Now the season has ended where do you think we will finish next season.

I appreciate it is rather early and blind to signings but would be interesting to look back on during the season.
We can always repeat just prior to the season starting

    I think 4th-5th

Hard to say. I think scraping play offs and showing some green shoots as the season wears on seems likeliest still this stage. Need to see not just our business but what Norwich (in line for minority investment from American investors) and Burnley (supposedly skint but hiring Kompany on a big pay packet) manage to get up to. Boro and Sheff Utd will be up there too but they’ll have to pull their finger out to bring in strikers that are up to the task and in Sheff Utd’s case a Gibbs-White replacement.
    Position: 5th
Player of the Season: Joao Pedro
Young Player of the Season: Mattie Pollock
Top Scorer: Cucho (if he stays) - 17
    Largest transfer fee - £3m
    Signings from Udinese - 2
Promoted - Boro, Burnley, Sheff Utd
Edit: Luton - W1L1 but finish above them.

    Another question:

Do we finish above or below that lot up the road?
    I think sadly the latter

It's pretty obvious that we win the league. Rob Edwards knows how to get that kind of thing done.

Was there a prediction thread just after the 2019/20 season? If so, what percentage of those participating predicted 2nd?

We will squeak into playoffs under 3rd gaffer of the season and a disjointed squad. We will lose in the playoffs. JP, Asprilla and Cucho sold as the last remaining saleable assets. 16th following season. Administration Xmas 2024.

I think the predictions should really be made before the first game of the season kicks off, but doing them now is utterly absurd.

1st or 2nd said the same last time we went down. But it is dificult to say at this stage. I watch a lot of Championship games and it really isn't a good standard. My prediction is purely based on keeping João Pedro, Imran Louza, Kamara and Cucho.

Yep keep those four with a decent window and I'm quietly confident we'll be challenging top 2. A lot of unnecessary panic - we've had four championship seasons under the Pozzo's. We've finished top 3 in three of those. If we actually let Edwards recruit for his system and stay away from Bayat we'll be challenging with what seems a weaker league than usual.

Yes we don't have Sarr, Capoue, Hughes this time. But we also don't have empty stadiums (the financial impact) , Buendia, or Bournemouth to worry about. + Pedro will be a class above.

To be fair Capoue hardly played in the Championship and when he did he was only at 50%. I think it was 11 games he played and didn't register an assist or goal. I think Louza will be very good in the Championship if we keep hold of him so could easily replace Hughes in that role. Sarr on the other hand will be a significant loss.

As said it depends on quality of reinforcements brought in.
We know our current bunch should be top 7 material and it could take time to bed-in new players, but I don't think Edwards will drag his heels... Will be trying to put out an energetic team with clear tactics and drive...
My heart says top 3, head says anywhere in top 7...

Too early to say, obviously based on the current squad I'd say mid-table.

I hope we are at least in the top 6 for the majority of the season but dependent upon who we bring in and sell will raise/lower my expectations.

2nd. We be miles clear with about 10 games left, then a late collapse will see us just about hanging on for auto promotion

Top half but not really threatening a top six finish. I do not think (with the dross that's going to be left over from last season) are anywhere near good enough to even maintain a consistent challenge. If we have a good Summer window and Rob gets the new signings to gel and we play attacking football we might break the top six. It's not the end of the world if we don't go up this season but we need to be promoted within the next two seasons at a minimum. I reckon we'll finish 10th with poor investment and 4th with decent investment in the squad.

Edit: Oh. and we will finish below Lootown.

11th. Most 0-0 draws ever in a season. Edwards sacked in February after a 0-3 home defeat by the Scummers. A brief rally under new player-manager Troy Deeney fizzles out and, with no chance of making the play-offs or being relegated, the season is effectively over by mid-March. Knocked out of both cups in the first round - beaten by Reading (0-1) in the FLC and humiliated in the FA Cup by Northern League Division 2 side, Easington Colliery (0-1 AET). The team is applauded off the pitch after the last home game of the season (a 0-0 draw with Rotherham). The club announces 'overwhelming demand' for 2023/24 season tickets.

The forecasts by the bookies is not felt by the fans
It is dawning on many that we will simply be left with a very poor squad and promotion will be out of reach even in a weak Championship.
Position, bottom half, just above the relegation places with the players we may be left with.
Just above halfway and above if we have new signings.
