12 points from play offs and 12 points from relegation? Yet i laugh at us reaching play-offs but strongly believe we could be dragged into a relegation battle, why?
Because we're not as good as the teams above us and not much better than those below. I'll continue to look down rather than up at the moment.
Because the teams between us and the play-offs are more likely to get points than those between us and the relegation zone?
We have lost more than we have drawn, we have drawn more than we have won, can't see that trend changing.
"If games were only 45 minutes long, Watford would be sitting pretty in fourth place – only the top two teams in the division and Barnsley have led at the interval more times" Wow.
That's a pretty good Point. So what's our issue with 2nd Half performances? Poor squad fitness Lack of managerial ability to notice opponent tactic changes and compensate Lack of squad depth to cater for changes in opponent's tactics Over confidence A playing style which is easily "found out" and countered.
The crucial thing for us this season has been our record against our fellow strugglers. With the exception of Forest at home, we've generally done well..or at least avoided defeat...against them. 6 points off Millwall, 4 from Doncaster, an away win at Ipswich, draws against Coventry, Bristol City etc... In a mini league of the bottom 8, we'd be top or near the top..and that's keeping us up so far.
We will not need 52 points to stay up , I don't even think we will need 50!!! I reckon we are 95% safe already, as we probably need no more than 8 or 9 points to survive, and we should get them with ease IMHO!!!
3 wins and a couple of draws will be enough. If we don't manage that from the last 15 matches, then we deserve to go down. The bottom sides are only on 25 points and Pompey will lose 10 on Friday, so 4 sides will be on 25 or less points and will need to double their points tally just to get to 50 points. In other words TWO of the bottom sides will have to play like champions to overhaul us. I would also say we're 95% safe now.
