It's good to see Hodson and Jenkins have turned things round, I was well impressed with both of their performances.
I couldn't disagree more re. Cowie and Jenkins. Jenkins was a nonentity for most of the game. Cowie controlled everything for us, both in attack and defence. If Jenkins hadn't have been playing, I doubt we'd have noticed. If Cowie hadn't have been playing, we'd have needed 3 players to replace him. That's the difference. As for Deeney, some bright sparks around me had it in for him from the outset. To be fair, I feel that he is clearly out of position and he looks it, but he stuck to his task and put in a shift. I don't think he's a long term option on the wing though.
Just for a laugh: Swansea A 0 pts Sheff U H 3 pts Ipswich A 3 pts 'Boro A 3 pts Cov A 3 pts Hull H 3 pts Norwich H 0 pts Leeds A 0 pts Barnsley H 3 pts Leicester A 0 pts QPR H 3 pts PNE A 3 pts Takes us to 73 pts - which wouldn't be enough anyway!
Not the greatest game you'll ever see and not the greatest Watford performance you'll ever see but desperatley needed to halt the slide so job done.
Not the greatest of games agreed, but it was an open game with both teams having a go. It will be good for the team to scrap out a win. Most of the posts on here have focussed on Watford's players and some have mentioned our inadequacies but I have to say those two full backs of Millwall would struggle to get in our reserve side! they were cacking themselves every time we went wide, shame in a way that this game came a little too soon for Buckley, with him at full pelt they would have certainly had something more serious to worry about. A good win and I wouldn't write Tuesday off just yet as a game we are destined to lose. The Swans didn't do too well yesterday did they?
I'm beginning to feel that for all his energy, and the ability to finish, Weiman actually doesnt offer as much up front as Sordell does. Deeney was played out of position, didnt offer much going forward yesterday but for what he didnt offer in attack he more than made up for in work rate and added some steel into the midfield. He won balls where normally we wouldnt, and that made for a easier life for Thompson. Still dont understand some peoples slating of Jenkins yesterday. Without Eustace filling his normal role in front of the back four, it allowed Jenkins to play his best type of game. I dont have any confidence in Loach, but he put in some great saves yesterday... well done.
Agree with this, he was "up for it" for want of a better expression. One moment of skill in the first half when a high ball was controlled beautifully by Deeney has got to be one of the best peices of skill I've seen this season.
And that was not the only time he brought down a high ball with absolute composure and touch. If he was doing that in front of goal, he'd be scoring a lot.
Can't believe no one has mentioned the straight right hand to the face, which felled young Thompson in our penalty box second half! Did anyone else see it?
Can't say i saw that but i did see one of the most pathetic pieces of cheating in a football game from one of their players. It was in stoppage time and their player was finally getting booked for persistent fouling, albeit 80 minutes too late, and as the ref called him over he walked passes Jenkins who gave him a light pat on the shoulder and he went down like he had been fully punched in the face and started rolling around on the floor. The ref or Jenkins took no notice and it was just quite embarrasing to be honest.
The fellas behind me still have a go at Jordon Stewart when Hodson slices one out so it could be far worse...
