Im telling you....we have some AWSEOME talent coming through harefield at the moment. we are about to sign 4 of them on proffessional contracts over the next 6 weeks. Watch this space. Well done Graham and whichelow....if we can play shi t and still win...surely we can be optimistic for the future !!!!
Thats good to hear Hollywood. I just love the fact we're up there amongst the so called 'big' boys with a squad assembled from academy players, rejects, loanee's and on the signings. I just hope the new owners dont upset the applecart. Mind you my therapist might beg to differ.........
Winning after everything that had happened in that second half must have taken great concentration and mental strength so fair play to the lads for that. I suspect both sides would play out a draw after the latest floodlight failure.
We must share the same therapist...does he wear a leotard and spangly leggins with a watford crest embezled on his left nipple ? He sometimes puts some 'spokey dokeys' on his bike too....but only when we are winning.
Wizardlow! Great win actually though the game was ganna get postponded for a minute, but well done to the lads!
I wish there was a league of £ spent on players for the championship...I would imagine we would be second from bottom...on top of S****horpe.
It cost £5m a year to bring the likes of Messi, Xavi, Iniesta through to where they are now. I mean how insane is it not to have Harefield type academy?
If everyone were to win their games in hand, taking every team to 26 games (impossible of course, but just putting it into perspective) Teams joint on points ordered by alphabet. Uploaded with ImageShack.us http://img146.imageshack.us/i/potential.png/
i can see us beating both preston and ipswich in our 2 games in hand....I don't however think we will do the double over cardiff ( we play them in 3weeks time)
I think few us would have believed 6th, within 4 points of automatic promotion with a game in hand at beginning of season. But, testing time ahead. Several injuries, future of two loanees in doubt and a financial situation which could force us to sell players unless some inflow of cash from possible new owners. Next few weeks will be critical.
BBC: "The first half was a relatively dour affair - enlivened briefly by United's Ross Jenkins lunging in two-footed on Eddie Nolan and perhaps fortuitously avoiding a card." Quite an achievement to lunge in on your team mate? :dismay:
Very nice, strange that Windass described it as a scuffed finish into the bottom left corner when it was a neat finish into the bottom right corner...
I echo the comments about this probably being the most impressive win out of the five in a row we have enjoyed. Listening on the radio it sounded like a disjointed, scrappy and ultimately tough game for any quality to shine through. When you look at the 11 WFC players on the pitch when the winner went in, this has to be recognised as a cracking three points. On a side note, it sounded like Sir Tommy Mooney wasn't too impressed with what he saw from Sordell when it came to challenging for the ball...
Good chant for the lad IMO!!! To be chanted like the "Ian Wright Wright Wright" chant "Whichelow low low, Whichelow low low"
well pleased with the run we are on. today sounded like the sort of game that sets apart those at the bottom and those at the top. great character again from the lads.
Just got back - A relatively poor game which was somewhat ruined as a spectacle by 20 minutes in the dark, but still a good day out. The fans were impressive again - I think we can be thanked partly for the missed penalty - and to grind out the result was really good to see. Had a rubbish view of the goals - to be honest I thought Buckley had scored to first. Think we really missed Eustace in midfield. Overall though, it's really encouraging to see us win like we did today - good teams win when they don't play well.
Mooney slags off Sordell on the radio any chance he gets I will always respect him as a legendary Watford player but he does come out with some idiotic stuff when he commentates
I have to agree with Sir Tom in that I am not a fan of Sordell as an all round player, haven't been all season. And from what he was saying on the radio today, it was an observation that Malky was 'shouting furiously' at Sordell for pulling out of another challenge so I think it is fair to say he was delivering more of an observation than an opinion.
It did sound like Sordell was bottling a lot of challenges and that if he had really gone for it then he would have scored on at least one occasion. However, i also seem to remember either Mooney or the commentator mentioning that Sordell may have picked up a knock beforehand.
Interesting comments here from Mooney about Sordell then, after today's game... ??? http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2256688,00.html All of that and particularly the bit in bold doesn't seem to tally with what you and others heard during the game!
I read that article before today's game so I think that was aimed at his Pompey performance which would explain it. He was definitely not singing his praises today.
Listened to the game on 3cr.. I was feeling very nerous at times expecially when they won the penalty. But i felt a sigh of relief when they missed, however they scored 5 minuters after :doom: I knew we could win it when Graham equalised and was going mental when Whichelow got the winner, although my worry is the injuries we picked up during the game :dismay:
Good to see Matty come on and strike an excellent winner. At least the game finished and we got 3 points.
Good win for us although neither team played well and the floodlight breaks were ridiculous. WB was especially poor and was the cause of their first goal by dribbling the ball out of our box and being dispossessed. They ballooned a penalty over the bar.....decent support, I'd estimate about 750. The side that finished the game would not take us into the play offs but would get us to 52 points IMHO.
