It’s nothing other than tragic, just a glorified Peneranda or Success, only he cost us £32m. I think it’s also highly unlikely he signs a new deal as well, he’d be absolutely nuts to, but he’s also one of highest earners already as well, so what’s his incentive to sign a new one then? £100k a week? I doubt Udinese have the means to pay a player that, and if they do, that’s not really protecting his value if we’re having to spend the money we’re protecting on wages.
If he ends up there for a low fee or a loan that doesn't benefit us, sure. Just think it's a bit early to be p1ssing your pants based on a very loose rumour.
Isaac Success and Penaranda achieved zero at us. Sarr has. You may want to dismiss what he’s achieved in relation to what he cost - and the league he achieved it in not being the league he was purchased for - and that’s largely fair. But to lump him in with players who have done nothing really makes less sense.
Lol what? Weren't you in the TonyCoton thread about "be nice" etc and you're already resorting to swearing and insulting to get a point done. I saw a link and I posted it, I didn't say it was fact, I literally labeled it a rumour and said it's tragic, IE if this happens it will be. Who defines what rumours are loose and what aren't and what rumours we should comment on or not? I posted about 5 words with the link, the only one ******* your pants here is you and you even agree with me? New forum rule according to WatfordTalk: Don't comment on anything until it's factual.
Blimey, didn't realise you were so thin skinned Squibs! Wasn't meant as an insult, sorry if you were offended by it. I personally don't think it's worth getting worked up just yet about something like this, and the Benik Afobe thread is a perfect example of that, but seemingly will never be learnt from. Especially when the link is so tenuous. But, each to their own.
To be fair, Edwards did comment on Afobe and say he’s a player he likes and ‘fits the style’ so was worth commenting there! Dwight Gayle however…
I don't get this either man I'm sorry to harp on but let's look at what happened. I posted these EXACT words: "And the Sarr to Udinese rumours begin. Tragic really." with a link to the rumour. I don't think that is "worked up", in your defence maybe I should have put "would be tragic really IF this happens" but alas, you then tell me I'm piss1ng my pants to which I respond and you tell me I AM thin-skinned? Don't you see how you're more likely the provoker here who then attempts to gaslight me by telling me I'm thin-skinned or over-reacting? It's a forum, rumours are to be discussed. I agree you shouldn't treat them like an absolute fact but the saying "no smoke without fire" exists for a reason. Anyway, apology accepted, have a good day.
Think @WatfordTalk thought you meant it was tragic that it could happen whilst you meant it was tragic such rumours were circulating. A simple misunderstanding chaps.
Apologies, lost track of how many okay-in-the-championship-crap-in-the-PL strikers we were linked with!
Kinda hope Brighton come in for him or Dennis with the Cucurella money so we can maximise the asking price but I think they might be too savvy for it.
Yeah, I think they’d be confident of finding a player capable of developing far beyond the level of Sarr, without paying anything close to what we’d want for him.
Hudson Odoi has asked to leave Chelsea, Newcastle nailed on to sign him. The pool of teams who can sign Sarr is rapidly shrinking.
I honestly think…and also hope he stays with us. I think having him in the squad would be a nightmare for most championship teams. I know everyone gets worked up by his contract running out. However we obviously can’t get what we want for him so keeping him another year might be the best option.
Seems a strange way of protecting our asset, when he could help us to achieve promotion back to to riches of the P.L.
I don't think people get worked up by his contract running out for the purposes of enjoying having Sarr on a long contract or, indeed, supporting Gino in his matter of pride in not making a loss on him, they're 'getting worked up', if they do, because the shorter his contract is, the more likely he is to be sold in an attempt to protect any meagre portion of his value they can and, as a result, we lose him for this season at a level he's actually strongly impactful whilst not benefitting in getting even a quarter of any fee to siphon into Mogi's pocket for a reserve left back. I think there are vanishingly few people here who you'd find would turn down the chance to keep Sarr for the season on a financial basis. It's just how much that contract length is perceived to influence Poxbury's decision-making.
A desperate Man Utd would be the best outcome (outside of keeping him). Get a mix of Pellistri, Laird or Shoretire on loan coming the other way and then stiff them for a juicy fee due to their desperation.
In all seriousness, should we push for a winger from United if they sign Sarr? The way things are at the moment we have to give up a midfielder for a winger, which is one thing when Sarr can occasionally pull a rabbit out the hat, but another with one of their wet behind the ears young lads
