Also just seen The Messiah Obbi Oulare has bagged his first goal in about a decade against the mighty Sint-Truiden. Get him back Javi!
After finally making his comeback after months out injured, Obbi Oulare fractured his tibia yesterday. He only managed one start and three short sub appearances and is now out for several months again. Pretty confident he's the worst Pozzo signing of the Premier League era, all things considered.
Gino will give the lads one more season each, in the second tier, to harden them for our future promo pushes.
Lukebakio was benched, not sure why. Fortuna won 2-0 and are off der bottomplatz. Our boy Cucho scored a penner, as mentioned above, and was also involved in the last ditch equalizer, bit of a scramble but he'll be claiming the assist. Another Huesca player missed a penalty, should have left it for Cucho. Highlights here:
Fortuna with a good 2-1 win vs Dortmund - their first Bundesliga defeat of the season. Lifted Fortuna up to 15th in the table. As per Bayern, Dodi's goal came on the counter-attack while playing as the lone front man. Could he be the goal-scoring lead-the-line striker we've been searching for? Massive loan news snuck out during the Xmas period. 21 year old Venezuelan centre back Williams Velasquez couldn't get in the squad for third tier Spanish side Sabadell, so we've terminated his loan and packed him off to the brilliantly named Jef United, a second tier team in Japan. I mean, really, what's the point in having these players on our books? https://twitter.com/MarioSanchez_SC/status/1076847651663106049?s=19
It used to be 'Join the navy and see the World'; now it's 'join a football club and see the World'. Probably doesn't cost much in the scheme of things and this may be involvement in a sort of duty of care thing, rather than just dropping him like a hot potato.
Does anyone know the phrase for "Can we have our ball back please?" in German? He may have to say it when he smashes it out of the stadium after being clean through on goal and it lands in a neighbouring garden adjacent to the ground.
One Watford striker scored 2 goals - for Bristol Rovers. Alex J seems to have found himself under the new manager - according to them he certainly looks like a goal scorer. Sure he will do well for them in their League One/Two campaign next season.
He was clearly well thought of in Venezuela. He hasn’t progressed, but given Cucho and Penaranda it’s not like the method makes no sense at all. Great experience too for a young guy, live and play in a different culture. Who’s to say he won’t make it and WFC don’t eventually get a fee?
Half season update blog post on all our loanees found on Twitter: www.vicbait.wordpress.com/2018/12/30/loan-rangers-update/
FFS - usually animals are sold to butchers for their meat; Deeney is too much of a waste of space for even that!
Tommie Hoban fit again and back in training. https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/aberdeen-fc/donsnews/hoban-ready-to-get-off-injuries-hit-list/
Recent outgoings include; Andrew Eleftheriou (21y/o) loaned to Braintree Town (National League) - signed today & played. Out of contract in the summer. Sam Howes (21y/o) loaned to Eastbourne Borough (National League South) - debut last week & was Man of the Match. Valber Huerta (25y/o) has been given a 3yr deal by Universidad Católica (Chile) after playing for Huachipato (Chile) last season. Universidad announced they'd bought 50% of Huerta's contract but it's unclear who owns the other 50%! I've contacted the club, the players agent & several Chilean journalists but, as expected, club & agent haven't replied while the journalists just don't know. Williams Velasquez (21y/o) loaned to JEF United Chiba (J-League 2, Japan) after his loan contract at Sabadell was cancelled. Jorge Segura (21y/o) loaned to Atlas FC (Liga MX, Mexico) after his loan at DIM (Colombia) ended. As is being well reported, Zeegelaar (28y/o) & Okaka (29y/o) should both be joining Udinese very soon. One player who has returned from a loan spell is Randell Williams (22y/o). Wycombe Wanderers sent back all of their loanees claiming finances stopped them from renewing any loan agreements. Kwasi Sibo has been training with Udinese & told me he'll go out on loan somewhere but nothing has materialised just yet.
Amazing dedication to the cause of WFC reportage. I enjoy your posts and think it was a travesty you were omitted from the Forum New Years honours list.
The Williams Velasquez thing is a bit odd, he was part of the Venezuela team that lost the u20 World Cup Final to England alongside Penny, so it's not like he's utterly devoid of talent; certainly not the level of the Japanese 2nd division. Personally, it kind of seems like he'd be better served training with the highest level of club he can regardless of playing time, rather than going somewhere that's roughly Sunday League level just to play matches, but who can ever second guess the Ponzis, eh?
I watched Daniel Bachmann play against Rangers last night, he seems to be very well thought of at Kilmarnock (who are now second after beating Rangers 2-1). He made an incredible double save in the first half but unfortunately the follow up still fell to a Rangers player and it was bundled over the line. He made one poor error in my opinion. Morelos 'scored' by using his hand and it was rightly ruled out by Bachmann made a bit of a mess of trying to save the shot so was quite lucky it was ruled out. The rest of the game was fairly quiet for him but he performed reasonably well.
Our boy Jaime Alvarado is in Chile for the under 20 South American Championship. He didn´t play in the 1-0 defeat to Venezuela or the 0-0 draw with Brazil. He came on in the 46th min in the 1-0 win over Bolivia and played the full 90 mins in the 1-0 win over Chile. Colombia are now through yo the next round.
