Standard start. No very obvious clues. Good idea to @ people fairly soon if they havent shown up. Do we lynch inactives?

Nah, let's just vote them off. One of them is a wolf and they will copy my strategy of posting something inane just to avoid suspicion.

Well, its not that far from Abu Dhabi to Qatar, so you should have been here before most of us.

Do you think that they copied the message style or it's an experienced player?

I do find it odd that only one of the messages has gone for a code.

The code only helps though when someone susses out what it means. We've had codes in the past that have been so complicated that none of us had a clue what it related to.
We also know that this can be overly hung on too, which isn't always helpful.

I think I have an idea what the code may be going by the clues. Could be miles off mind but it's the only thing we have.

I'm inclined to think that the seer would use the code more than the wolf. Unless they wanted to sow confusion.

I don't think it matters so much that we work out the code or reveal it does it. It works more to help the seer confirm who they were throughout at some point.

So we've got both messages. Who are we going to turn on?

    I say @Optimistichornet , because even if he's good, there's still a chance he'll castrate us.

Careful you don't mirror the first message there. Especially as we don't know which is which yet.

Being named on day one puts me in the frame then. Surprised message 2 doesn’t have a code of any sort which gives me vibe message 1 is probably a more experience player than the sender of message 2.

    Random quote and code though.

Australia. And we are doing a top scorer one as well and I drew Richarlison.

First person to draw got Brazil and Harry Kane - how’s your luck!

Here are the reasons I believe message 2 was from the wolf (of course I would say that, as message 1 said I was good...)

The second message was received 4 minutes after Otter posted the initial message.

It looks likely that whoever was sending the second message, was waiting for the first message. I imagine this is potentially because they were waiting to see if the first message named anyone as evil. If so, I imagine both messages would have said someone was evil.

Also, interestingly the second message started with "Morning". This is despite the fact it was sent at 13.04.

I've a couple of thoughts on that:
    1) Are we all in the same time-zone? If not, that could be a clue as to who sent message 2 (which I believe to be from the wolf).
    2) The message could have been drafted in advance - earlier in the morning - but the sender wanted to wait to make sure the seer didn't name anyone as evil so hit send as soon as the seer's message came through and forgot to change their draft.

I was one of those who started my post today with "Morning".

    The others were:
    Dom
    Ashdon
    Horace
    SLB
    HH24
    WaS

Only one person in the above list began a comment after 12 noon (i.e after morning) with "Morning" - With A Smile. However it was at 12.02 so I can give them the benefit of the doubt I think.

I'm not sure who we should go for tonight unless we pick someone inactive (haven't checked to see who has been active).

Clearly the second messanger was waiting for the other messanger to blink first. The time difference between them reading the first message and sending their own is quite remarkably fast - either not a lot of thought went into it, or it had already been drafted.

Not made any progress deciphering the code in message one. Slightly inclined to say message 1 is more likely the Seer at this point.

Agree - I think the “experience” card is one that is overplayed. Plus, it counts for nothing - I’ve played a lot of these games now and am no less in the dark most of the time than someone playing their first game.

I’m inclined to agree with @nornironhorn - if I had to bet I would guess the first message was the Seer’s, the second the Wolf. I don’t see any logic in the seer waiting for the wolf to post, but it does make sense for the wolf to wait for the reasons norn outlined above. If this is right, it would mean norn is good and Ashdon is unproven. No proof of any of this, obviously but nothing more to go on on Day 1.

As somebody who has played the role of wolfy a few times in recent iterations of this game, I was never brave enough to go straight to naming an evil on day one.

My inclination is that message 1 is the seer purely given there is an attempt to codify the message which will give them an out later in the game. If this is the case, then message 2 looks reactionary and there to cause confusion.

Day 1 therefore will be a total shot in the dark as always.

I tend to agree that there is not a lot to go on today. My feeling is that the first message is the seer because of the code so Norn is likely good. ashdon is unproven.

i will probably go for an inactive player.
