I don't really care what Troy says - his lazy attitude on the pitch stinks and he's a waste of a big salary. This is also even before I get on to his recent injury issues and ugly loss of discipline with Joe Allen for the red card. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if Deeney doesn't want a decent money move as he might be expected to actually get his ass in gear, whereas now he's still living off of his former Championship glory days.

Thought he said he wants a forward capable of unpicking a defence sitting back. As far from a target man as is imagineable no?
So will Cliff Holton, but it doesn't mean he is good enough to play for us now. Having said that, he may actually be more mobile than Troy is at the moment.
Deeney can do sweet nothing for the next 4/5 years, retire here and he'll still be a legend and one of my all time favourite Watford players.

Knowing when to leave a long standing relationship is very difficult. Most sane people recognise and value the enormous contribution Troy has made to eating,err sorry,to Watford, but it feels to me as if now is the time to say goodbye. Sad but heroes come and go,only the fans remain stuck in the life sentence!
Agreed. something isn't right. He was knocking on the door of an England call up not too long ago. I don't think our style of play suits him and moving on would be best for his career.
I think he is just too comfortable now. Well paid, media friendly. A move would do with good and shake him up a bit. He doesn't have to chase money in his life anymore so why does he need to chase a backpass either like he used to.
I'm not sure what he actually brings to the table on the pitch any more. Completely lost whatever little pace he had, movement in and around the box is all too often poor, slows down our attacking play, and when we try and use him as a target man he often gets dominated by taller centre backs. If there really are teams willing to play upwards of £20m I think we'd be mad to say. He will always be a club legend but I think it's time to move on.
The fact is he showed up for the start of last season woefully out of condition and has never recovered. I desperately hope he doesn’t start Saturday and I’m amazed I’d ever say that. Get rid.
Believe me, the fan reaction when Holton was sold was vicious. Eventually cost the manager of the day his job.
