I do support workers campaigning for better pay. Not sure where I said any different.

I suspect the interest in my occupation faded when it turned out I did work in a large multi cultural workforce and I do treat cancer patients, because it supports my experiences and claims without contradictions. Unlike the claims that other people made which they now appear to be backing down on.

I am all for unions, but I am against their partisan politics. Labour has been neglecting working people, by focussing on sideline issues of little importance supported by no facts, and, worse, attacking them for their beliefs and priorities, by waffling on about those side line issues, claiming that people who do not prioritise them are bad or ignorant.

Why any working person should consider supporting Labour, simply because they are in a union, and that is what unions do, I do not think can easily be justified.

I also think it is important to understand the circumstances behind a persons comments, so one knows how seriously they may be taken.

Not sure why you might complain. You, GoBE, BW, and others, are constantly telling people to ignore me. So why you might be concerned that I am merely saying to people that you appear to have contrary positions, I am not sure what the problem is. At least I have justified what I said, rather than just saying that Hooter’s a git.

I think I may have worked out why people find Sir Keir a bit of a turn off... he sounds like Rick Stein, the incredibly smug and irritating fish cook

Oi! I like Rick. He's a grumpy old sod, like me. I actually don't think he is smug in the slightest; in fact, quite self-deprecating.

If you went back to the Blair era, Starkers would have probably been many people’s idea of what a politician looked and sounded like, handsome, managerial, confident. Unfortunately, (or fortunately) ever since then the shiny git school of politicians have come under attack for the expense scandals, Iraq war, financial crash, austerity, lying and general shitness etc.

But then you look at all sides of the House and see who gets elected you do think what exactly is the public looking for?

Christ, what a combination of bones.

I’d call for revolution, but I think what’s needed is more like evolution.

The parts of the electorate, who don't bother to read up on our political leaders, think that because he's been knighted then he must be posh and come from a privileged upbrinking, whereas nothing could be further from the truth and as one elderly Tory voter said, I might consider voting for him because he's a gentleman. He may be a bit dull and overtly cautious in his dealings, in footy parlance a bit like a defensive-minded manager who would keep it tight and hope to sneak a win but at least he tries to be fair and compassionate and present himself as a decent human being. Others should learn and take note.

This "...fresh start..." - I assume it also includes wholeheartedly supporting the centrepiece policies that got both the government its massive majority and us into the political/societal mess in the first place?

What a week for Mail/Express readers and hairy-eared Nationalists. Boris humbled, leaving as an undoubted liar, Starmer cleared.

Worth saying again and again though.

These loons have had their way most of our adult lives. Take time to enjoy this defeat until they find the next flagshagging permutation.

I hope some of you were sensible enough to take Mystic Lloyd's advice and risk a couple of quid on Kemi a couple of months ago. I got 95-1. Apparently she's come in to 10-1 now.

Interested to know what's so impressed you about her. Watched her launch event and seemed to be mainly saying 'I'm different, I'm new' and running away from giving any answers on potential policies. I haven't really followed her career so far but I know a lot of the Tory press think the same as you however I thought there was very little substance in what she was saying, and certainly no attempt to communicate any kind of vision for the future of the country beyond upping the stakes in a culture war and shrinking the state.

    What am I missing?

I thought she looked a little bit wooden in the clip they showed of her on the news last night, although it was the BBC and so in reality simply an obvious attempt to smear her.

Don’t get this. How was the BBC smearing her or were you suggesting Tories are so bonkers they would claim quoting their own words is smearing them?

Interesting to see that the paragon of competence David Frost has said that Mordaunt was so useless she had to be moved aside when she was in his department. When even the Brexiters aren't Brexity enough you have to wonder just what's in the cavity between these peoples' ears.

I happened to catch a speech she made in the HoC a few months ago (I can't remember what it was about!) and was struck by how well she spoke. I was impressed by her honesty and plain speaking. I like her thinking re the so called 'culture war' - which I think is having a more divisive affect on society than many people realise and agree with reducing the reach of the state. I like the idea of the Tories electing a black woman as its leader and handing the country its first black PM. She's the best of a bad bunch

Of course the culture war is ‘divisive’. That’s the flippin’ point. It’s why the Tories, their media and their ‘think tanks’ wage it, day in, day out.

If you don’t like the culture war, why on Earth would you vote Tory?
