I reckon Bilic ought to get the lads to spend a bit of time practicing these, because I could do better than those ones yesterday whilst wearing a pair of Wellington boots 3 sizes too big for me.

I know they’re generally awful - but our last two goals were scored via set pieces...

Saying Hoedt's goal was via a set piece is a bit of a stretch.

I liked our kick off routine right at the start of the game, really set the tone for what was to come :(

Not really. Second phase of a set piece is pretty standard. Would be interested in what @reids thinks though.

Would definitely count as a set-piece goal, but wasn't really what was planned!

Agreed- reminded me of Gavin Mahon “kicking for position” under boothroyd

A ball swung in to no one in particular, cleared by a defender and then stuck in the net from the edge of the box wouldn't count as a set piece goal in my eyes.

Sema is generally decent at corners - no Sema, no party.

Last week at Reading ....goal from a set piece , JP at Huddersfield goal from a set piece .
It is the delivery that is important which is not as easy as everyone thinks .

It’s a decent delivery into the danger zone that gets headed out to a player who has held his run seemingly for half-cleared balls. I don’t think it’s a planned routine, but that is only part of a set piece goal (alongside being good in the air and getting stuck in) and I imagine that only around half of set piece goals come from a first phase routine going as planned.

Good movement by Hoedt before hand - knew what was coming potentially!

Me too. I know boothroyd was a pragmatist, but it was an embarrassing opening announcement that our players weren’t being asked to play good football.

I bet we lost the throw in or whatever anyway - we always do now.

Mind you now we try to pass the ball around the back like a hot potato.

Looked like we were trying one or two things from set-pieces on Tuesday night.

There was one where Hoedt crept round the back towards the end, a bit like that Chalobah goal v Birmingham a couple of years ago.

I get that a lot - lost count of the amount of times I've been asked if they're lenses! They pretty much are pitch black, can't usually see the iris

Most likely, they just need to confirm it with the coach who takes set-piece sessions but the manager is keen. They were desperate so asked me to check with Spezia if they'd allow it and Spezia said yes

Did you then strategically place 2 men to block the bouncer, to free yourself up for a clean run through the side door?

That used to wind me up so much. And then Eustace started doing it.

As far as I can recall it only once led to a goal scoring chance and we missed it.

Some of the worst marking you'll ever see was on display against Coventry. Hoedt and Porteous sort of pick up their players (still allow them a huge amount of space), whilst Louza and Choudhury just stroll on past leaving Sheaf completely unmarked

No wonder we've got some of the worst defensive stats in the league from corners.

Dreadful. Embarrassingly poor. They need a set piece coach !
