Like a Troy Deeney that actually scores from open play. Enjoying him so far, looks like he's hitting his stride.
Suppose it depends on how this season plays out. Small sample size but he's currently scoring a goal every 1.5 games. I can see him hitting 15-20 this season if (big if) he has more luck with injuries. How much would a 25 year old HG striker with 15-20 Championship goals and his hold up-ability be worth?
3-5m gets you nothing these days. You've undervalued him imo. He's not even fully fit yet. Agreed 15m excessive looking atm but if he stays fit we've got a player there.
Agreed Norn’s valuation is low but the fitness question is the key here. There’s big doubt he can last 90 minutes. Or rather, if he does, that seems to rule him out of the next match altogether if it’s 3 days later.
I don't think Davis is naturally fit. I noticed he was stretching his hamstrings in an 'I've got cramp' way after an hour against Norwich
In fairness to KD7, he's had some bad luck with injuries and not had a pre-season. 3 goals in 8 games is a decent return at any level. We haven't seen the best of him yet, I get the feeling he's only at 70% of what he can do.
I’m in agreement - I like the look of him and think he will make a good Championship striker have no idea what the point of comparing a 24 year old with a player who is at the end of his career is though
I do certainly understand the reservations from what we've seen so far, but there are plenty of potential mitigations that we need to hope are partly responsible, and Forest fans seemed to be falling over themselves to offer their firstborn in tribute to him for just a few months of work, so that must tell us something. Besides, he's already the best finisher we've had as a striker in about 70 years, because he's actually capable of finishing, so that's a welcome change and a string to his bow, at least.
He's been in the right place at the right time to score for us of late, 3 goals in last 4 starts. I got nothing to criticise him for atm.
Being a bit pedantic here, but if we end up paying £15m for him 3 goals in 8 isn’t really decent at any level, it’s ok at best, but then likely to end up fairly poor when you scale his likely return up to the PL and him costing £15m to achieve it.
It’s 17 goals over a championship season, it’s ok. For £15m it won’t make a good value PL striker. But let’s hope he improves somewhat as your original posts suggests he might.
I think I'm watching a different player to a lot of people. Technically he's good, he's mobile, link up play is very good and he's got 3 goals in 4 starts. What's not to like?
Those aerial wins are terrible for a bloke his size. I would actually back Pereyra to win a header against him. I think the frustration I have with him is that he's clearly athletic enough to get around the pitch, but unless he's given the ball to feet he's practically useless
Agree with this - he has an aerial win rate of 31% this season. Only Gosling (24%) and Sarr (21%) rank worse. Even Asprilla (36%) has a better success rate.
Only 10% better than Sarr who makes no secret of the fact he literally will not compete for headers Being worse than Asprilla is truly appalling
