not sure that's technically allowed either, just unenforceable (I admit I have no idea what I'm talking about!). Anyway, no big thing. Just hope he doesn't get in any bother

He's a good keeper, but he sounds like a right dullard.

Imagine being a top level goalkeeper, and preferring long-distance cycling: one of the most boring sports to both watch and participate in.

I imagine part of the reason he's so calm under pressure is that his heart rate barely gets over 40bpm.

I suspect they have bigger issues to worry about right now to bother getting invovled.

I prefer, Bachman saying “ Troy I’ll hold your wallet while you go on and knock that bloke in the back”.

I find it hard to hear BF shout. "Jeremy," and not smile. Professional footballers are not called Jeremy, in the same way that they are not called Tarquin or Cecil.

Bird Law? Ah, just the person. A flock of parakeets has turned up in my garden and they're eating my apples. Can I sue them?

Would be great if they could do this when we get fans back in the stadium. I’d imagine the scenes caught with goals scored for both teams would be amazing

I wish he’d spend less time cycling, and more time working on keeping his kicks within the confines of the pitch.

At least we can be spared the sight of him drilling the ball at Mapps for a couple more games.

He can’t help it. He has a fetish for kicking the ball off the pitch to the left.

I disagree. He sounds like a bloke with an actual life outside of football.. so important when your career usually ends by the time you're in your mid 30's.

Sure, watching long distance cycling isn't my cup of tea, but participating? Are you saying that you wouldn't get a kick out of cycling through somewhere like the Netherlands or Switzerland during summertime? Rolling green hills, lakes, mountains etc. Sounds wonderful to me.

He said he's also into cooking. Again, great hobby. It's something I have loved doing for years now. I guess if his interests make him a dullard, I'm a dullard too and proud of it!

He has said in the past the cycling is to help keep him fit rather than running around and training all week due to the dodgy knees Foster has (amazing he hasn't come a cropper with us then!)

Does anyone actually really like cooking? Tweaking flavours, sure. Being happy you've put something together correctly, fine. Eating, definitely. But chopping, stirring, throwing away, tidying, mixing and watching inedible food become edible does not interest me, and I'm pretty sure that's rather universal. It's the reason the world's favourite hobby is going to restaurants/ getting others to make them dinner: because it's bloody awkward getting food to the actual good bit. It's the same with washing. I like having clean clothes that aren't creased and smell nice, but the process of getting the clothes to that stage is awkward and frustrating.

And if I'm speeding through the alps, it will be on skiis or a mountain bike. Sure, if there's nothing but open road and beautiful scenery I'm happy to go on a road bike for a few hours. But anything that involves slowing down, and dampening the lives of hundreds/ thousands of everyday motorists who cannot pass you, for your own enjoyment takes a certain type of person. The same type to wear full-kit lycra I suppose...

Probably depends if you are a good cook who can produce something very nice.

I mean the top chefs of the world must enjoy it.

Clearly if you aren't very talented in will be a pain.

I bet people hate the shopping for it all more.

Same with cycling - some like it but others hate it and find cyclists very annoying.

Millions of people do, yes! Myself included. Whether you're following a recipe, or creating something new through experimenting with different ingredients and spices, it's so satisfying when the end result tastes good. When it's a healthy dish, it's all the more satisfying. The washing up isn't much fun, but as they say, you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.

I wouldn't say it's awkward at all getting food to the 'actual good bit'. I enjoy the preparation in the kitchen and seeing something go from a few tins in the cupboard, a few spices and a few vegetables to something that tastes great.

Is it the same with washing? All you have to do is take the dirty clothes from the basket to the machine, add the detergent and turn it on. Hardly awkward and frustrating IMO.

Dampening the lives of motorists? Jesus mate, any motorist who blows a gasket by getting angry at cyclists enjoying a countryside bike ride on a summer's day needs to take a serious look at themselves. Or to use a favourite forum expression on here, they should give their heads a wobble.

As for me, I've never worn lycra but wouldn't say no to popping the remains the leftovers of last night's dinner in my bag and going cycling in the countryside for a few hours!

You have to get into the spirit of things with the Grand Tours.
Watch them with a local bread, some cheese and a bottle from an appropriate vineyard, and before you know it, an afternoon has slipped by.

I must admit, unlike most of the people on here, I also love watching cycling, especially one of the 3 Grand Tours. Watching it live can be a little tedious, but if a stage finishes on top of a mountain, then watching the ending live is perfect sport to watch.

Plus ITV's nightly highlights program during the Tour de France is very sweet.

During the World Cup I made the national dish every day for each country involved and it was so much fun. Still cook Saudi Arabian, Serbian, Colombian, Costa Rican and Tunisian food to this day.

If calling someone a dullard is an attack, then I hate to hear what you’d think about my views of some of the rest of our players.

He prefers a hobby where he spends hours on his own pedalling, to a very social and adrenaline-filled role as a Premier League footballer, which many of us would give a lot for.

I didn’t mean to start a war with precious cyclists, but in my mind, and his, that makes him quite a boring bloke.

He's probably been eating sleeping and playing football for about 25 years and is looking to his future now that he is near retirement. Therefore as long as he doesn't fall off his bike and do himself enough damage so that he can't continue as our excellent GK, then good luck to the guy

Kebab el Mirou (Saudi), Meat Burek (Serbian) and Brik (Tunisian) I'd say were top 3. Addition of cinnamon to beef is a masterstroke!
