And what would that sentence be if written in English?...

(No offence to people for whom English is a second language or who are dyslexic!!)

I think that's just a more accurate version of the "Like" button. :)

There could be a sort of go-between option, maybe a "Let's Agree to Disagree" button.

Aren’t most of us just arguing with Russian bots or AI generated users?

Yes, YES, well said that man/woman/trans/nonbinary/unspecified person or ai thingy I definitely feel overwhelmed and, yes, relieved to respond.
Now everyone knows exactly where I stand and I’m sure it will make a tuppence of difference to all forum members..

I would say 'user-defined AI' is closer to "bots". Nobody has a physical presence on the Internet on a software level, we all Interact with it from the real world. It's not like if you met me in real life I would take the form of my avatar (which actually would be pretty damn cool) :p

On a different level. AI 'bots' are pretty easy to weed out. They stick to a scripted response no matter what is said in relation to a subject. If they cannot respond with a more intelligent answer, they will repeatedly look for the most valid response which would please the question giver. I've only ever written a small AI script for a chess game I made years ago and it's pretty fun. :)

Does anyone know why there isn't a dislike function? As you and TVOR have pointed out it seems like a simple solution that would help to mitigate some of these issues. I'm pretty sure I would reply less in disagreements if I could express my view with a simple thumbs down or dislike.

It would also be insightful in getting a better idea of what the great Hornet public really thinks rather than just the people who shout the loudest/post the most and have the same people liking their posts.

It existing during the old version of the forum. When the Admin updated everything they removed the feature. Best guess is to stop arguments of people starting a debate over "why did you dislike me post?" etc. Just with the "Like" feature, the forum tells you who liked each post, and the dislike button worked in the same way. That is my best guess anyway.

Why not reinstate the ‘dislike’ button?
    You’re in charge.

The arguments occur anyway - but it may curtail some with a dislike option and if not there’ll just be an added post - ‘why did you dislike my diatribe’ etc, before it all hits off exactly the same with no dislike button…

Can we have a 'I hate this post and everything you've ever said' button as well? Would save some time further down the line.

How about buttons for “No derailing this thread to witter on about air fryers” or “I know this post contains typos, but can you please just listen to what I’m saying?” or “no puns please.”

To me, the idea that being able to press a button that says 'I dislike this' will mitigate arguments and alleviate the majority of people's drive to engage in contrary discussion/debate on this discussion/debate forum, seems like moonman pie-in-the-sky lunacy. But I am just one man. You may well disagree, and if so, please feel free to smash that dislike and subscribe button.

Thanks for the explanation/best guess. I don’t know if the programing permits it but perhaps the dislikes could be anonymous.

I've previously engaged in some disagreements on here as a minor protagonist, and I think it would have provided me with an alternative option to express my disagreement. I agree its not going to cure the malady totally but it may mitigate it. However, I'm definitely not a spokesperson of the majority and I aspire to be a moonman.

Doubleplus wellsaid. I think some punters would enjoy a 2 minute hate session aimed at Gino, although perhaps he would be more the BB. Maybe Mogi could play the Goldsteine role.
