Yeah I heard that first, their best known song, and love it but marginally prefer this. Thought I'd stumbled on a great new indie band to follow and then found both tracks are about 30 years old. They don't sound 1990s......struggling to find anything else they did as good as those 2 songs though.

I was recommended them by someone the other day, that song specifically - I'm going to check out some of their other stuff.

Tune with a great cameo from Stevie . Doesn’t get as much airplay as it should .

Think Gary Byrd co wrote some of Songs in the Key of Life so hopefully he got some fat royalties off that

This is great late Jam. Great performance. The TV production is clear and without any of the 'artistic' elements that so many live video directors think they need to insert. If only more were of this quality even today. The is a Danish TV Station where they make bands actually play their songs and not lip sync and it's so much better for it for it! Enjoy.

This is terrific footage too. Arguably when they were at their peak. Great sound, great atmosphere.

This is a surprise. I didn't realise they had resurrected the Death Cult version of the band with a tour at the end of last year. They were big in the burgeoning early 80s independent scene before they sold out and became the standard rock act that was The Cult but between 1982 and 1984/85 they burned very brightly.

    Stuff I didn't know until today .
I was under the impression that the vocals on "Ride on time" by Black Box were by
one of the Weather Girls . I was wrong . Long story short it was Heather Small of M People .

    Or something like that,

Blimey, I can remember that and not what I did yesterday…

I’m not sure if the question is rhetorical but anyway I don’t know the answer.

I seem to recall Peter Powell liked it.

I had the Southern Death Cult album, and Dreamtime live at the Lyceum which was good. Saw the Cult many times, supported early on by the likes of Balaam and the Angel, Fields of the Nephilim, then as they morphed into a "rock" band it was Zodiac Mindwarp - some bands I haven't thought about in years.

I don’t remember Mazzy Star from the 90s but, like you, have recently ‘discovered’ Fade Into You. It came up as a track that Spotify recommended, based on a playlist that had similar sounding indie stuff from more recent years. It’s almost like someone has decided that their sound is so contemporary that it should be aired to a new generation. Or to old farts like me who missed some belters the first time around.

Talking of songs that have been around for a while, this piece of gold is now just over a decade old…it never gets old to me. Utterly beautiful. Close your eyes and don’t think about the girls in his bedroom - that’s just a distraction!

Exactly how I found it though YouTube playlist suggestions based on what I'd been listening to.... also helped me discover Still corners, Chromatics and Beach House as similar to what I'd been listening to.

Reminds me of the old chant based on ‘Hersham Boys’:
    Watford boys, Watford boys
    Laced up boots and corduroys.
    L*t*n boys, L*t*n boys
    Fishnet tights and Tonka Toys.’

Things weren’t very PC back then, really.
