He’s had a patchy career so far but is he only 26? I like the look of his goals from last season. If we’re moving Ince and Raj on and bringing this guy in then that’s great work. I’m not desperate to see Raj leave because he’s clearly getting better, and he can help from the bench. But this guy offers a whole lot of something that Raj will never be.
Apparently moving Rajovic on if we get a bid of £4m for him...in other words, we're not moving him on
With Raj, I’m not seeing great improvements. I think he won one header yesterday and made one pass. On one occasion he tried to control a ball to him and it literally bounced 40 yards off him as if the ball had hit a brick wall and it set Bristol on a counter attack from which they nearly scored. He’s scored 9 goals, which will seem attractive to the uninitiated. Hopefully we can mug off a buying club as 9 goals is decent. He’s not a Championship level player and if we can move him on for a fee, even if it’s getting our money back, we should do it immediately.
Agree. I might be imagining the improvement thing because I remember seeing how bad he was at first. So every time he actually lays a ball off or holds it up I think he’s improving. In fairness to him, I get the impression that he’s a really hard worker and that he will get better. But we really shouldn’t be having to start with him. I do think that he can offer something from the bench so long as there’s something that he can feed off. At the moment, if it’s between Bayo and Rajovic, I would prefer to see Bayo start. But just writing that shows how much we need someone else to come in.
Absolutely agree with your comment about his improvement. I think it’s because he’s gone from being completely incapable of doing basic target man stuff to being able to pull it off a small number of times that some are finding reason to be optimistic. Sadly, as HB1 says, it’s the times when he’s failing at doing it that are contributing to us being immediately back under pressure or even gifting decent counter attacking chances to the opposition.
I disagree regarding the improvement, I think there is obvious signs of improvement in regards to his hold up play although the starting point was very high. I remember the time he mis controlled the ball and it ended up back in our half but this wasn't the only time he controlled the ball he held on to the ball several times yesterday.
Hopefully the Rajovic/Bayo scenario will be moot this week. It's painful to watch them most of the time.
I thought this guy would be Healey's replacement (possibly Healey and Ince combined). I think if we also sold Rajovic we'd have to bring in another striker again on top of this guy. Two senior strikers is not enough, and I don't think this guy is much of a target-man type anyway.
They're very similar types of player as well. I wonder if we were considering this guy if the Dennis deal hadn't happened?
Mine tell me that he won’t sign if Dennis signs. Dennis won’t sign unless this guy signs. Kalu will happily come back if we don’t sign either.
I briefly wondered the same, but Pochettino has said that he'll be part of the first team squad as Chelsea have a fair few injuries. He also wouldn't really get many more minutes with us than he was getting at Leicester anyway.
Sorry everyone - the brooding Italian post was purely to give @Relegation Certs a momentary stiffie. There was nothing else to it!
