For sure if he can get back to the same player he was pre-injury (and i've not sadly seen that in the cameos he's played so far). I wanted to make a compilation of all the goals he scored for Toulouse but it seems like WyScout lost the rights to show those videos as sadly they're unavailable - but the movement, ability on the ball and finishing ability he possesses(/possessed) is so far above what we have at the moment.

Edit: Ah someones already done it:

So what? My point was clear - during the time they were both on the pitch together and we were trying to get a goal, it was Rajovic and not Healey who got it for us.

Jumbo's original point was that Healey's not getting the same chance to show what he can do as Rajovic. The fact the latter scored in the 8 or so minutes both were on the pitch doesn't really answer that, given the context of him having had considerably longer on the day to get up to speed with the game and far more minutes in recent weeks too. Maybe if they'd been subbed on at the same time v Millwall it'd make sense.

Isn’t the real problem that Healy hasn’t fully recovered from his last injury and perhaps never will? VI rarely ever mentions him in interviews and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if his contract is terminated in January or next summer.

VI mentioned him a few days ago and did seem to allude that there may still be some fitness issues

Some great finished there but also some hilarious defending esp the 2 goals at 1.36 and 2.25 !

He does. But he then still blathers like an idiot about having great competition up front. Half of what the manager says is inconsistent incoherent nonsense.

TBF if you have 3 **** strikers, you do have great competition up front.

Rajovic might not have even had the chance to score if it wasn't for Healeys movement in behind Harding, meaning Cooper had to adjust his positioning rather than just sticking tight to Rajovic.

Exactly this. It's a great run from Healey and causes Cooper to panic that he's going to head it in at the near post, as shown in these stills.

Incredible coup if true. Spurs hadn't hit double figures for 3 seasons until he joined, they topped the goals per corner taken table last season with his work. Distinguished CV, probably the best set-piece coach around.

As big a coup as getting Manga but hopefully one that has a more positive outcome.

Evening @Burnsy and @reids hope you are both well?

LouOrns is saying he’s ’in the building’.

I’ve asked the question but no reply yet. I’ve been mentally busy with work (not to mention I’m currently working with a 7hr California time difference) so I’m pretty out of the loop and unengaged right now!

I reckon working with us could add another 1000 variations of hitting the first defender and losing possession. We’re ace at that.

There was a time when we had two cracking routines under Javi, one where we played it backwards twice, across to Capoue who would then chip it to an onrushing Femenia as the defenders pushed up, for him to put a low cross in and another where we'd roll a short one and have someone looking uninterested on the edge of the box who would then come alive and hit it on the volley. Scored a few from those routines as well as creating other chances.

Pereyra's volley against Brighton was perfectly executed, was fiddling with his shin pads as the corner was being taken but having sly glances across to see when it would be coming his way.

Really doesn't seem that hard to be a little inventive and also reduces the need for the delivery to be absolutely perfect.

This is absolutely key - too many times teams go for the "perfect" corner delivery from an inswinger/outswinger. Chipping the ball is much more accurate, but it is also slower and easier to defend. However with good planning you can counter those negatives. Brentford have a great routine that they've used for years (below), they crowd the 6-yard area but position their players well. 2 players leave a gap between themselves. The target-man starts at the back-post and makes an unexpected run between the 2 Brentford players who close the gap (meaning his marker can't follow) once the targetman has got through. The result is a free header into the 6-yard area for someone else to get on the end of. Doesn't require perfect delivery, doesn't require a massively aerial dominant targetman, works against most types of defensive setup.

I've used this in Portugal, England, Denmark and Spain with some good levels of success and will probably use it in every other league I ever work in - just winning the first ball, even if it's away from the 6-yard area can cause chaos and then provide opportunities closer to goal. See the chances/goals "I've" scored from it (including one the other week in Spain) in the video below!

Is he also good at coaching how to defend set-pieces? Because that's where we seem especially weak right now.

Think he mostly focuses around the offensive side, but not sure. Agreed that our biggest problems are defensively but think that can be fixed relatively easily (swap Livermore for Bayo). Still underperforming in attack as well!

Valerian took time before answering my question. “Things were going well. Christiano Giaretta had some magnificent ideas on corners and had more ideas ready to implement. He really does his job so well. And the owner Gino Pozzo was always at the facility ready to offer input. Scott also understood the basics of how a corner worked.

But then in November others arrived and there was too much input into set pieces and the messages became mixed. Scott’s new idea of booting it back to Daniel became contested. The players could feel the uncertainty.”

*the “others” referred to by long departed coach Ismael were Vio and team who arrived from Tottenham and by pure coincidence to the timing of this article happen to have had their 5 year contracts terminated yesterday after less than a year in the role.

The problem is, of course, that many teams in the Championship are disciplined and quite happy to sit back. So the challenge is what to do when you pass it sideways and backwards for 60-70-80 minutes and they still don't come out of their shell. I've yet to see us come up with a solution for that, but I guess throwing on Rajovic and putting crosses into the box is one solution.
