Love the fact that prosecutors in Spain have updated their case on Gino and accused him of being a ‘criminal’ has gone under the radar today. To me, that’s bigger than any game this season no?
Bloody footballers! How difficult is it to understand it's windy?! If in doubt play the ball. I small hen in its late forties could have shuffled across and caught that or tipped it around the post with its wing. Wind is difficult but flipping heck it's spring in England what on earth do you expect? Dim wits and dullards we have. **** for brains! I give up.
Incredible to think we're still only 6 points off the play offs. Quite an achievement to finish outside the top six this season
Just one more goal in each of the games under Wilder would have provided those 6 points. And that ignores all the many, many other missed opportunities earlier in the season.
To be fair the gods did mutter something about only being prepared to allow Watford dominance for 45 minutes only....
They've either been out in the flesh pots of Lancashire with Burnley or on the ambrosia on Olympus again!
I know I should only be mildly annoyed with a re-run of our capitulation greatest hits but that showboating early in the second half had confirmed for me that we were going to get our comeuppance. Fortunate to escape with a point. A few things to add. Hamer is getting crucified for the first goal but I think the wind (yeah I know, resist the urge!) was the key factor along with the defence f'ing about in the lead up with Porteous at fault. Hamer deserves another chance and I'll still be amazed if he doesn't see the season out. If Wilder returns to pick Coco the Kung Fu clown on Saturday he deserves his P45 there and then. Hamer was a reassuring presence until the defence and their brains went AWOL second half. We seem to be a team that creates momentum for our opponents; we did it on Friday and we did it today. Every commentator/pundit was saying that Coventry were denied a 'stonewall' penalty which Keith Stroud denied. I thought initially Kamara had done his usual panic and thumped into the back of the Cov player but the ref had got it spot on, he was kicking back with his legs (twice) on Kamara to initiate the contact. Never a pen but at that stage of the match and in those circumstances I was staggered that Stroud didn't give it nonetheless. So Brizzle City on Saturday with Super Nigel Pearson. I see they were 2 up just after half time to Boro and it's now 2-2. So probably a right royal battle between 2 nervous teams at the Vic in prospect. Nurse, nurse, tablets please all round!
I'm not convinced a diving goalie saves that. It was curled right into the corner, it just looked bad because he thought it was going out of play. Arunjo is pointless, bacuna left the Coventry player unmarked for the 2nd. Britt was never fit enough to start. All pointless short term panic signings by Pozzo. I do actually quite like some of our players and believe there is a team in there somewhere. We need to reset in the summer and have another go. All it not lost.
If you'd have told me at kick-off we'd get a point, I'd have taken that, but it's the way in which we got it, lucky even to hold on to a point in the end, that's disappointing. I don't think many, if any of our players are completely useless, but we've just been utterly incapable of unlocking their abilities this season, we have a lot of young players but not many old heads. 2 seasons ago the likes of Cleverley and Cathcart had something left, and WTE, whatever you say about his defending (which certainly wasn't horrendous at Championship level) really did help us get over the line, but now Cleverley and Cathcart are ready for the glue factory, WTE is in Italy and Gosling has done his ACL...perhaps it's not surprising that our season has gone downhill since the latter two have been unavailable to us
I did like the look of him before the first goal, but it seemed to scramble his brain as soon after he almost gifted them another
I love the fact he still turned around with the arms open with the look of it was someone else’s fault on his face. I guess he was blaming The Anemoi* *I looked that up.
every side in every league can point to games where they threw away 2 or 3 points. The league doesn’t lie. We are in the place we are in because we’ve been worse than a good half of this division. bearing in mind that, from what I’ve watched, this division is full of a load of old ***** then that’s some mean feat
I hate the "sexy football" chant - it seems to me that it is inevitably followed by us getting our comeuppance......
The second goal was awful defending by Cathcart. He let the forward run past him and that flick on led to the goal. Cathcart was asleep to the danger and had no desire to get to the low ball first to clear it upfield.. A dreadful defender. He has to put out to pasture in the summer.
That of course would be the sensible thing to do, but I do fear we'll extend his deal. Sod it, Mattie Pollock would be a better bet for next season at this rate, at least he's young and has done well in Scotland and in League 1
The same one rubbished after one or two games earlier this season ? I mean in reality you are probably right - a good run of games might be just what he needs. Cathcart did fairly well for a while but his limitations have been showing more in recent games - bit like Hoedt.
We will absolutely have to lower our expectations for next season, I'm not saying Pollock is the Messiah by any stretch, but as a squad option seeing as he's already on the books, with a bit more experience under his belt, he might not be the worst option. Rather someone with some potential to grow (despite his obvious limitations) than Cathcart who isn't getting any better!
All it takes is the right leadership and we could get promoted with a far weaker squad on paper. It depends how you define expectations. Unfortunately our leadership is non-existent.
An interesting view, but yes I tend to agree, you don’t need world class players to get out of the championship, you need players who want it more than the opposition and are prepared to put the effort and desire in for 90 minutes!
Even if we sprinkle the squad with a bit of ********, we will have one hell of a job on our hands next season. JP and Sarr will be straight out the door (I'll let you decide how much of a blow the latter will be!), possibly to be followed by other potentially key players, but even if we have the bones of a good team next season, we're miles off having a good squad with the depth to cover a 46 game season
To be fair, he was useful two seasons ago as a squad player, unfortunately we went into last season with him as a regular...
