Bloomin eck - are even more people writing him off already?! That's a bit harsh, he didn't even get on the pitch today! He'll come in and save our season, any day now.
Nothing really stands out about him. He's not quick, not strong and not particularly skilful. Sure he'll probably be a decent player in the future but of absolutely no use to us now
He's a great finisher - you just need to lay it on a plate for him 1 yard out on his right foot with no defenders putting him under pressure and he'll stick it away no problem! Super talent.
Yet another new signing given a glowing, glorified press release build-up by Leventhal and French who is in fact absolute crap.
He's not strong and so can't play as a lone striker in the Champ, but he makes great runs. If only his teammates were taught to look for him.
Definitely not absolute crap, just an absolutely horrible signing for this team and this division. He needs to fire his agent for starters!
His movement is great, even though Preston was the wrong sort of game for him, he still managed to find himself in acres of space on a few occasions, we just couldn't find him.
I think Davis + Araujo would work well together (particularly like tough to break down teams like Preston), but it's hard to get both JP + Sarr into that team as well.
Agreed, I'm sure the goals we'll get from that will outweigh his contribution but it seems like he's invincible
To be honest we are not playing to his strengths. And if there was no intention to, then why the hell did we bring him in. Have a lot of sympathy for him, getting slated when to be quite honest he's had **** all service whatsoever since he's joined. I really struggle to see what our game plan is at the moment watching us. At least Preston had clear patterns of play, especially in the first half. Whereas us it's really all chaotic and hoping for someone to pull something out of their d*ck hole. So fair enough if you don't think he's suited, but I don't think he's ****. He was just the wrong signing if we aren't going to utilise him in the way he is suited.
I think it's pretty clear he's a poacher, who needs a striker alongside him to create space and chances for him.
A slow poacher who's not shown any decent shooting ability thus far. If we'd wanted a poacher there's been nothing to suggest we wouldn't have been better off just sticking with Bayo.
Sarr still is only one a a very few whose capable of scoring and creating imo he has to start. JP and Sarr as the front two. These two have scored virtually half of our goals between them this season. On that alone they should be be ones in the box finishing chances not creating.
Whether a front two of Sarr and JP would go against Wilder's statement of not putting square pegs in round holes I'm not sure...it's not whether they normally play, but equally they both played well against Boro this season at home as the 2 in a 3-5-2 and Wilder was absolutely glowing about the pair of them
I'm not keen on Sarr as a striker but we need to get him involved more and maybe plying him as a central striker will help that especially as in a 3-5-2 formation Sarr's position of winger isn't there
Crazy talk. Neither of those two are strikers, although JP is good enough to operate as a second striker operating off a decent centre forward if required. Sarr has been tried a number of times up top and found wanting - that idea has surely been put to bed now.
I value your opinion but I honestly can't see where goals are coming from currently. As @Hogg-DEENEY!!! Quoted they played well against Boro at home as the two. As I said those two have scored 18 of our pathetic 41 goals to date I believe. So on that stat alone I'd personally go that way. Davis is woefully low on confidence and adds very little but it's not my choice.
Even in a two up front, I believe you need a player who can receive and hold the ball to link the play. Even though he’s not great and doesn’t score enough goals, Davis is the best we have at that. We have yet to see Araujo play with him for any length of time and he would be my choice at least to see how it works, but JP could also do it. I also think Davis himself could well benefit from playing with a partner.
Another manager who doesn't fancy him. He must be as anonymous in training as he has been when he's got on the pitch.
To me he looks like an Under 17 playing adult football and not being able to deal with the physical side.
Probably more down to Wilder taking 2 or 3 training sessions tops (one of those being a set-piece session as well) before today and sticking to names he knows. Would imagine that could change pretty sharpish considering Davis spent 96 minutes on the pitch today and couldn't muster a single shot (not sure whether that's better or worse than his usual MO of missing sitter after sitter) and Assombalonga spent 20 minutes on the pitch and didn't manage to touch the ball once.
No guarantee that Wilder sticks to the same formation going forward, but the path is clearer for him to get into the team now. In theory, someone like Davis playing the Heskey role with a more traditional poacher might work, but Davis is no Heskey...
We may as well end his loan. We’re not using him and even if we do it’s now too late to have any meaningful purpose.
