I don't mind the southwardly mobile type. The ones who move down and soften their accents as well as their own obsession with Greggs and Ginsters. It's the full blooded North folk who revel in their northernness I can't stand. Flintoff and McGuinness etc. Sickening.

Well, I’m not easily pleased, but you’ve made a persuasive case, so I’ll take another look.

For me it lacked the characters and atmosphere to hook you in, like TWD did (until that jumped the shark around series 6). I felt it went flat as soon as we jumped forward in time and became ordinary post apocalyptic fare. But people seem to be loving it and I usually like a journey drama.

    Brilliant. Love Fawlty Towers.

Intrigued to see how this will play out now Cleese has become the narrow-minded and pompous character he set out to satirise.

I met him once. A perfect example of why you should never meet your heroes. A real pain in the ar5e

Odd that isn’t it? You’d think he’d be able to float on all the goodwill. I’d disagree with him on many things, but I’d give him the love for the great laughs he’s provided.

A relative worked in the studios and he got me an 'in' to watch the filming of two of my favourites in action: The Muppets & John Cleese. Cleese was an almighty pain-in-the arse with everyone (cast and crew) on-set and off-camera but when filming started he was a jovial 'star'. The on set photographer asked if I wanted anything and I said just wanted "...a nice picture of John Cleese that I will try and get signed and give to my Dad because he loves Basil Fawlty". They shot the final 'big finale' number first because it was such a complicated set-up and the photographer promised me he would be back with a print ASAP. He did but Cleese's management team would not allow me to have any of them but, luckily, the photographer foresaw this and hid one image in my coat. At the end of shooting his bits I approached the great man and asked if he would sign the photo - he said of course and took it back to9 his dressing room. I waited for around half an hour and mananged to catch him entering the staff bar and asked him where the picture was - he replied that it was in his dressing room. So my relative and I went to retrieve it before the cleaners pinched it:

The reason the image is in such a shyte state was that it was screwed up and left in a bin and the stains on it are from the numerous empty coffee cups and beer cans that the **** had purposely put on top of it.

I think we all know, deep down, that it's going to be poor and will tarnish the legacy of the old show.

    Such is life.

The last line is spot on!

Loved Happy Valley, actually funny in places despite the two story lines

I finally finished ploughing through Breaking Bad. The whole thing is really first class but the last two series in particular are just brilliant. In fact, I was left feeling physically shattered after watching some of the final episodes.
I've moved on to Better Call Saul and have already whizzed through Series one. A slow burner but it's building up nicely. I am told it is even better than BB

Good work, BCS is definitely a slow burner to start, and it’s a different type of show throughout, but it really ramps up around season 3 and becomes a bit more like Breaking bad in that sense going forward. Hard to say which one I prefer, but I think at times BCS surpasses BB later on.

BB is excellent, but BCS is next level.

Gave up halfway through series 1, but went back and it was so worth it.

After it finished, I couldn't watch TV for weeks as everything else seemed pointless.

I would agree BCS is even better, though it may simply be that it is a more enjoyable watch. BB is one of the most gripping pieces of TV ever, but it’s hardly a barrel of laughs. BCS has a broader palette.

That's interesting, I actually wasn't a fan of Saul in BB though I quite liked his scenes with Jesse so I wasn't enticed to check that out. Does he appear that much in BCS?

Jesse? No, just cameo toward the end. Still worth watching as it's brilliant.
There was a spinoff film called El Camino that followed Jesse's fortunes if you haven't seen it.

I was simply asking whether he appears that much, for instance if he is as prominent as Walter is in BB. Not sure how you could have deduced I was being sarcastic from my questions…

No offence intended. Yes, he is the central character and is in most episodes. The other crossover character you see a lot is Mike, Gus's ageing fixer, so it's his back story too.
Hope you enjoy it, and if you haven't seen the spinoff film I mentioned, then that's good too.

Clarksons Farm series 2. Yes the bloke can be a bit of a kn*b but it's entertaining and an eye opener to the farming industry in general. DEFRA sound like OFSTED on acid.

Clarkson is a ****. Beneath the story he's made up for TV you can spot his ********.

He's also not farming, he's a rich man with a farm plaything. He did hardly anything with the sheep last season. Caleb is disliked in the local farming community and Gerald doesn't quite talk like that. It's edited for TV. Then the planning decisions.... AONB. Can't try and build whatever you like and then simply say "the council don't like me". Even the Farm track. That Charlie ***** knows better too, it isn't a farm track, it's a service road for the pissy seasonal and non profitable restaurant. They could appeal for free, not the 500k quoted from a panel of agents with self interest, all after a chunk of Clarksons cash.

The West Oxfordshire District Council page is now full of people directly abusing staff over an issue they are massively unqualified to comment about having seen a hugely bias single side to a story.

    It's actually quite bonkers.

Farmers around the country say the series has done more for awareness of farming than Countryfile has in 20 years. Between the cr*p for TV there is some eye opening stuff.

  33. Moose

You can’t really compare Countryfile’s solid decade upon decade of reporting on farming and the countryside with this. That’s the PR blurb and Countryfile’s cohort of detractors who go mental on social media if it so much as has a disabled farmer on. Thas political correctness gawn mad!

You can probably claim that people otherwise disinterested in farming may have learned something, but essentially it’s entertainment and not real. Doesn’t have to be.

I love it! Great nature images of hares fighting, goldcrests nesting and a bull pleasuring a heffer (similar to the Joe Westerman video clip) all to the soundtrack of Led Zep and Fleetwood Mac. TV gold!

I want to start a farm just to get a visit from Georgia Craig to tell me what I’m doing wrong
