It's entertaining. I've watched and enjoyed both series.. But working on a farm myself I can categorically tell you it's full of lies. Additionally my wife is a town planner and picked it to pieces. Clarkson has completely brought farming woes and issues into the public realm for the better, but is in danger of missing the chance to improve it by making it about himself.

Having no experience with farming myself, I'd be interested to hear what the lies are if/when you have time.

General message is accurate. Farmers struggle to get by, wool is worth less than the labour to shear etc etc. He's correctly pointed out individual issues with TB, Brexit, DEFRA admin, keeping cows, use of land, planning restrictions avian influenza and so on. But...

He's immediately more able to both absorb these costs as a millionaire landlord, tractor a TV prop or a working tractor? and to create more income due to his celebrity status. For example do you think Cotswold Brewing co pay him the same rate for his Barley as they would have paid the farmer running diddly squat if Clarksons Farm never happened? Would any other farmer having invested a considerable amount in a lambing shed be able to sack it off after 1 lambing season. Or deliberately gamble it being given planning consent for a restaurant (in an AONB? Lol).

What doesn't work in his favour is WODC would probably have let things go for other farmers (i.e Farm track) because they would never know about it until it had been there for years. Because it's reported everywhere by every man and dog, WODC can't miss anything and he can't get anything past them. But that's his fault really.

Essentially borrowed animals to film a TV show.

Farms do open restaurants. Great way of bringing the people in and making an secondary income on a sustainable basis, love the idea. What they don't or can't do is bring in high end catering equipment overnight with a dozen skilled staff in a barn so piddly and seasonal you wonder if it could ever turn a profit.

Also been told Gerald isn't indecipherable and looks like Charlies started simply agreeing with Jeremy rather than advising him the correct things.

Not a favourite tv show but I watched a bit of ‘stars truck’ last night . I was a big fan of stars in their eyes back in the day, especially with Leslie Crowther .

They’ve taken that and tried to glam it up formulaic talent show style with the celebrity judges. They’ve ruined it in my opinion . Anyone agree ?

I didn’t think much of The Gold after the first episode, but went back to it last night and it got a lot better.

It’s a shame they have messed with a few of the details unnecessarily though, and they’ve made Kenny Noye almost likeable even though he was clearly a horrible ****.

Very late to the party, but finally watching Line of Duty. Have been binge watching it and now about to watch episode 2 of Series 3. Finding it compelling viewing so far.

I like it especially the very realistic moment of the yellow slime mould in the titles - a colleague used to research them and she had a, frankly chilling, selection of speeded-up videos of them 'finding' their way through a maze to towards a food source...

All of the episodes have the feeling of 'cut scenes' from a video game (apart of ep 4) - which is no bad thing. As I couldn't sleep during my last stay in hospital so I ended up watching all of the cut-scenes from the various Halo games; they were pretty watchable 'films':

I was discussi9ng it with another 502 YO video game fan at hockey. He said that one of the main guys behind TLoU game was heavily involved with the TV series and that game designers are 'just' producers of ultra immersive films and in the case of TLoU this is slightly reversed as the game couldn't show the action from the viewpoint of Ellie...

The politics is really laid on thick with a trowel though.

"Cor, Britain's changing, it's gonna be a brand new world and the likes of us are gonna get left behind unless we do sumfink abaht it". Etc Etc ad nauseam.

    Music's good though.

I'm confused by this because I've seen it advertised but I'm convinced I've seen it before. I just googled it and it was called The Curse, with Tom Davis.

Same subject matter, different programme. The curse also had Beats and Grindah from people just do nothing in it.

The gold is also about the Brinks Mat robbery and the aftermath but different programme/different actors.

I've started Happy Valley from the beginning. My god it's Northern. I can't bear it but have committed to it with Mrs Moog.

Can't they tone it down a bit for the sake of decency?

I swear her accent gets more Northern as the series go on. I'm positive in series 3 she said Ecky Thump. It's a good series though

My OH said I can’t watch anymore of Happy Valley, it’s like watching Emmerdale
And then he ran over that police officer in his car about 50 times and she changed her mind about that

  25. I've just finished episode 3. Ok so far. I'm no gamer so no interest due to that and generally don't do zombie things, but thought I'd see what all the hype was about and it's ok.

There are few programmes I really hate but Line of Duty is number one. Ridiculous storylines and so much content thrown in that is totally irrelevant just for "excitement". I gave up when a character was lying unconscious and about to be dismembered with a chainsaw at the end of one episode but at the start of the next they sprang up and overpowered their attacker. Oh please.

Binged the first series of How to get away with murder over the last two days.

Apart from a couple of mid season forgettable episodes it had me gripped!
