Not unless he gets us up to our rightful place of mid table prem with no debt and a squad full of young English prospects.
'Keeps up winning virtually every match...' ?!?! He's lost 4 out of the 10 he's taken charge of! Think I'd want a better winning ratio than that before I start hailing Gino as some sort of genius.
Don’t disagree with substance of your point but 18 points from 10 games (83 points a season - which is typically enough for 3rd or 4th) coming into this shower with these injuries is pretty decent. You don’t get anywhere with draws in this division. Don’t think Gino should be praised for it or anything but Bilic has improved us so far in almost every way.
Bilic has done well with what he has , and I'm very glad of that, I feel the championship this season is of a lower quality than normal thankfully. I'm still of the opinion it's time for Gino to either go or ,seriously change and adapt to changing circumstances. What worked well in 2012 doesnt work as well now in 2022.
BBC suggesting links between Pozzo and fascism. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63873325 Not a good look for the club.
Andrew French says that he won't be getting an interview with Pozzo. Apparently our glorious leader doesn't see why he needs to do an interview. No shock there.
Duxbury said he might do some interviews but then last time he did that the bloke ended up with egg on his face looking rather silly . So probably won’t bother.
I suppose we should be grateful that Pozzo still retains the ability to communicate in some shape or form to some kind of sentient being. Although I have a Harpo Marx picture of him now everytime he's mentioned! 'Beep beep!'
I think EFL regulations require 2 meetings per season with representatives of supporters groups. There was one with the Supporters Trust in October - one guy from WST facing at least 4 from club -SD, Richard walker etc. nothing of note emerged - it’s all fine/ of course we listen to fans/ have a nice day. It would be too toxic to have another one now ahead of seeing how the window unfolds and if Bilic survives so my guess is one towards the end of season once our “ fate” is almost decided and they can trot out “ lessons learnt “ / will try harder/ thanks for coming. I can’t see why Pozzo would ever meet with fans -never done it as he is the owner and not a director - that’s the job of SD and why he gets paid c£900k pa
Andrew French comments are damning, especially from someone who has thus far at least tried to straddle the line between the fans and the hierarchy
Depends on if he cares if the fans back him or not I suppose. Coming out personally and setting out the vision under the new sporting director would earn a lot of easy credit points with the fans, especially given how we are a couple of results from being in mid table. I think he’s too arrogant to see the benefit though. He’s incompetent in several aspects in my view.
Scott Duxbury said the other week there would be no fans forums type things as too much gets let out .. Make of that what you will .. Basically be no communication unless it’s on their terms .
It's funny to me. The fans were in uproar when the handpicked fan committee was set up by the Politburo. Some people on here defended it. They claimed it was a step in the right direction, like the club was open to being more transparent. ******* idiots. Another massive L for the clappers.
Giampaolo Pozzo has given four interviews either on Udinese's official site or via Udinese TV in the last two years. Why does his son think he's too good to speak to Watford fans?
I'd mean to add - our fans then completely forgot their anger because we won a couple of games. Likewise now, a good win against Norwich and everyone has buried memories of the crap which preceded it. Our fans get what they deserve. They sit and accept the **** they are served and so it will continue to be ladled up to them. **** this club.
It's a fair point, but the vast majority of fans of any club just want their team to play with passion and/or win. Things like playing in an attractive style are just a bonus. Concerns about the running of the club are very much secondary for most. So if they see a team of Mooneys and Eustaces battling gamely against relegation (as we have often seen at Watford) or strolling effortlessly to success with a bunch of overpaid mercenaries (rarely), they will be perfectly happy.
These fans forums are a nightmare for any club. Impossible to actually discuss anything meaningful as you know everything will then be in the public domain. "What's the transfer budget for January?" "Which players are you looking to replace" "What price would you sell Sarr / Pedro for?" "How many games has Bilic got?" "Who's decision was it to appoint Edwards and who's decision to sack him" "How will we repay the loans?". All questions that we would ask but won't be answered in public. What the club could be better at is making a few public statements clarifying strategy, direction, objectives, structure & roles etc, but even those would no doubt need to be run past marketing/legal so as not to put off potential signings/investors or give valuable insight to other teams.
What do you want fans to do though? Not celebrate goals? Walk out the ground after a win tutting in the general direction of the directors box? Football is a release, something to look forward to. Why should people feel guilty about or be chastised for enjoying their team's successes, because the owners happen to not sign enough defenders/sack too many managers/are friends with a dodgy bloke?
I expect if they care about the club to not be swayed by a momentary relief from the awful ownership. I expect them to show they care by being angry at mismanagement on the scale we have witnessed. That is what happens at other clubs and which has sometimes forced change. At Watford, its clear that the owner has contempt for the fans and, in the main, they've shown they deserve it.
