John Percy Telegraph Excl: Emmanuel Dennis facing Nottingham Forest axe five months after £15m move from Watford. #nffc looking to offload Dennis to a club abroad to make room in the 25-man squad
They can’t can they as he has played for two clubs this year. Does make us on loan his only option wierdly but like bowler going back to blackpool
I hope you’re right! I believe we would be the only side he could move to in England for whatever that’s worth.
Only club in the world he could move to at the moment I believe, although I am not sure about leagues that use different calendars
Would you have him back ? A very good player potentially at this level but questions marks over how motivated he might be and attitude.
Would love him back at Watford. With the little options on the table of where he can go, we are probably the best for him. Championship is a much higher standard than the MLS or Scandinavian leagues. I doubt any clubs in Brazil etc can afford his wages, and personally don’t think he would want to uproot and move again. If Watford are actually serious about bringing him back then it’s a no brainer. Under Bilic he would thrive again, and a half decent season in the championship would retain his value for Forest for the most part.
I'd love him here again. He's incosistent but he's miles better than pretty much all of our current attacking options. I also don't really believe 100% in those stories about him being toxic in the dressing room. I remember his post match interview after the first match of this season and him and Pedro seemed to get along pretty well. Also there's nothing in the social media interactions to suggest otherwise.
Agreed, he'd be a complete no brainer to have back in the Championship. There won't be many, if any, better attacking options we'd be able to bring in during January. He also has the bonus of being able to potentially lead the line while Davis is out, but also then moving to the wing whenever he's back if we wish to play both. Being a bit greedy I'm sure we could also easily accommodate both him and another CF in Jan if there's a good one available, with Dennis just starting on the wing for us.
He has never been given a run there, possibly started just one or two games, they obviously don't think he is good enough!
I’d have a motivated Dennis over a motivated Sarr any day of the week, but he’s a loose canon and there’s no guarantee we’d be getting a player who’d be interested in giving his best every week. Maybe it’s in my head, but I also felt like he wasn’t compatible with JP, and I can think of multiple occasions last season when the two of them appeared at odds on the pitch, and misplaced or ignored passes were met with flailing arms and bitching towards one another. It’s a risk, but we’re desperate and he could easily be the difference maker between now and the end of the season. I’m here for it. Get him in and let’s see whether we can soar, or crash and burn in the most spectacular fashion.
He didn't get a proper chance there. He was our best player last season in the same league. I'm sure he'd be good enough for Championship football.
I would certainly like to see how he would fair at this level, he would be on a higher skill peg to most of the strikers in this division, and is probably three times the player Manaj is. He can even bring Gnasher back with him. Go for a few groins in the boardroom when things are getting nasty. As others have said, with Davis out for lord knows how long, we only have Bayo and Blake as striker options. Blake is very raw and untested and Bayo is more of a poacher. Having Dennis running off either to create a chance or collect (and control) a decent ball in, with a decent chance of finishing it, would be most appreciated.
You're right, but seemed to more towards the end of the season when we were even more turd so maybe that was a factor? Agree with your final paragraph, would be fireworks either way.
Yeah, it’s not hard to imagine that moral was absolutely rock bottom and petty stuff amongst teammates would stick out far more amidst the turmoil of our feeble relegation, particularly with Hodgson stoking the flames of discontent. I don’t remember JP ever throwing the towel in, but I don’t know if the same can be said for Dennis.
Loose cannon was my thinking. I thought it was yours too, but it seems you think he's a freelance priest instead.
It could also be different now the roles have somewhat reversed, Dennis has been sitting on the bench and JP has been maturing as a player by the match. It was a fact that Teddy Sherringham and Andy Cole didn't like each other when Man U were destroying all before them, but they sure as hell worked as a goal scoring partnership.
Bob Hewitt and Frew McMillan never spoke and nobody liked Hewitt, for reasons that became public years later. Will his qualities on the pitch outweigh the supposed problems off it?
There are a few things to consider here. It appears he is still following Watford, hence his Instagram last night and he's supporting us. Shouldn't read too much into it, but it's a positive sign nonetheless. Watford are the only club in England he could sign for, so that's another positive. Would we want him? I see no reason why not. Players of his ability are hard to come by in the Championship. There is no ill-feeling with supporters on Dennis. I think everyone liked him, even after he left there was no bitter taste, as is the case when some players leave. Would Dennis want to play in the Championship? Well, that's the biggest question to answer. Dennis is a bit of a maverick, so I don't think he really minds where he plays, as long as he's playing, but second tier football he may think is beneath him. However, he knows the club, clearly like the place and knows a lot of the players. How true players celebrating when he left could be a key factor. If he's a bad egg around the place, then it's best left well alone. We need fighters and players who will come in and take the job of getting promotion seriously. If he wants to come back with the right mindset, then great. There are a lot of plus points. A loan with a view to re-sign if we are promoted, or just a straight loan would be fine. At least if it was a straight loan, Dennis would have better options in the summer to choose where he goes. The key factor here is whether he wants to stay in England. If he does then staying in the memory of English clubs, ripping it up in the Championship club with Watford for 5 months, is the prefect career choice for him.
I dont think anyone is shocked this move went south. He seems to be one of those more interested in the lifestyle type players which is a shame as he has a lot of talent. Glad we made a good profit out of him but wouldnt want him back here.
Think people are getting confused suggesting olympiakos he can only go abroad to a league with a markedly different calendar. This is a fifa rule not an English one. His options are more mls and brazil
Yup that's my understanding too. The Greek league is a winter league like ours and so he can't move there and play I believe.
According to a quatrain from Nostradamus, Dennis can only move in 'Janus' month' to a 'company of yellow livery' with 'a stinging insect' on their coat of arms.
On Talk Sport Alex Crook (I think it was him, I get him and another one confused) just said Dennis is a bad egg, and if you want any number of examples of it just how bad he is then just ask Roy Hodgson. Is that just speculation, or something he’s heard direct from him?
In the two games he played for us this season, he looked up for the Sheffield United one, but truly couldn't be arsed for the West Brom game, it must have been clear he was getting a move away by then. Perhaps things might be different this time knowing he won't be getting a Prem gig any time soon?
