I'll be listening with tears in my eyes at the prospect of Nathan Jones leaving Imodium Town. Hilarious. As the fourth goal went in on that fateful day he must have realised that it he would have to jump ship (again) to fulfill his ambitions. What's the betting he'll be back at the shed next summer. Arf arf.

God knows what version of Watford turns up this evening.

Watford need to do more: Press home those attacks. 1 -0 is never enough.

Much better team, just that little bit of quality missing in the final pass, cross, decision making etc.

    Choudury excellent first half!

Terrible game between two poor sides. Decent until the penalty then no one could control the ball, think positively or win the ball quickly. Needs a big improvement if we are to go up.

Frustrating performance for a large part and I thought just as much a penalty for foul on Mavis in the first half.

Freddie and JP managed a great cross and finish to end the plucky little Mince duo's chances.

There'll be no silly dancing in front of the Rookery tonight eh chaps?!

I see Poke sent the gnome packing without so much as a hand to eat!

Back to winning ways - 4 wins out of 5.

Looking forward to @NathWFC 's "normal service resumed" comment...

Another ground out 3 points a la our last promotion season so all good. My word though how pants is Kayembe and also to some extent Sarr. At least they combined for our 2nd in the build up, but that's about it. Sarr was making some runs I suppose, but his control non existent. Amazing how he can dine off that Liverpool performance still. From what I've seen, Kalu > Sarr.

Really, thought we controlled the game and Bachman had no saves to make...??

Fairly comfortable win against a poor Reading side.

Sarr isn't worth half what we paid.

Not sure it was a great performance but a win and defence did well considering it was make shift .

    Pedro the difference

3 more points. That’s all that matters at this stage. Judge the team and the manager after the World Cup.

I wanted 10 from 15, we have 9 from 12 so still very possible.

Never doubted our brave defensive warriors.

Was happy with the hustle shown by plenty of the players, and they seemed to help defend as a collective to make up for the deficiencies.

We really really need to capitalise and maintain any composure at all in the final third. Very glad that chance fell to JP, and brilliant technique to seal the game.

Reading were pretty bloody shyt, right?

We definitely still have a lot of the same problems, and need someone to hold the ball in and/or progress through midfield. Very important we could dig out a win in response to Saturday, at least, though.

Sarr's malaise seemed to continue, to my mind, though I was partially distracted by Only Connect in the first half, so someone may wish to contradict me. Did it seem to anyone else like he and JP might not have the most convivial of relationships, in terms of passing to each other and choosing when to play the ball or take it themselves?

We did until the penalty then just eased off. Came into it again with Kalu. But incredibly sloppy for large stretches. Keeping it simple at times would improve some of these players and their decision making. Releasing Sarr in early or giving Asprilla more of the ball. There needs to be a killer instinct and ruthlessness. Yes the referee did not help but really at 1-0 we need to kick on make it two or three and put the game to bed.

    Set pieces were appalling too.

That’s better. Kept Reading at arms length. Pedro was not as dominant as he has been but two goals is a good day’s work. Thought our two midfielders were good and a little bit more involved in set up play. Kalu has impressed whenever he has appeared. One more solid performance before a reset, recharge and reboot.

Reading offered very little but I think we looked decent enough.

At least the players are showing some fight and determination to get the second ball. That is a huge part of doing well in this league.

Just find it it odd to moan straight after a win. Each to their own. Much love x

Deserved the win, scrappy but got the job done.

I love watching Asprilla, JP gave the ball away too much but a good pen and he took the second goal well too.

Sarr went missing in the second half but popped up with a good cross to set up the second.

I am enjoying Kalus cameos off the bench, I dont care how old he is he looks decent.

Pick up at least a point on Saturday and we are in a good position to push up the table after the farcical next few weeks we have to endure.

Only saw bits of it, seemed quite scratchy after the goal, they had a few half-chances, but the second half was fairly calm even before the goal. A fairly decent performance overall, not exactly hitting the heights of that glorious day, but a deserved win

Gosling-Ekong-Kabasele-Sema as a back 4 and we keep a fairly comfortable clean sheet and faced 1 shot on target against a side in the top 6 a couple weeks back!

    Piddly league :p

If Bilic can get a defence consisting of WTE, Kabasele, Gosling, Asprilla, Bachmann then Sema to keep a clean sheet then he must be doing something right.

Think we need another no9 in the window Davis is great but he is injury prone and looked tired again

We edged it, and it was poor game between two average sides. Yes we deserved the win and well done JP for scoring a brace tonight. I was vital we got back to winning ways after Saturday and we did that. But yet again, as sson as we score we go floppy and slack with some poor control and thank god we scored the second one right at the end, because that was the sort of game we would generally draw by conceding a last minute goal. Defensivly we were alright tonight and quite thankful Reading were toothless up front. Choudhry - very very good performance from him, especially in the first half. WTE did enough but Sarr had another poor game overall. How many touches does he need to take to shoot? So much space and the chance is gone. I think he is saving himself for the WC, but please Ismila, can we have at least one more goal from you at the weekend?

Take the three points and now it's more vital we follow this up with a win at Bristol, who went out the League Cup at home tonight to Lincoln. Could be the same lineup again, but we cannot continue to coast through games, especially when the scoreline is on tender hooks. We won't go up playing like we did today for the rest of the season but it was all about bouncing back from the Coventry game and we did that - which was the most important thing.

Bog standard Championship win but we seemed to make such hard work of it. Choudhury and Pedro the standouts for us. Kayembe woeful, Sarr got worse as the game went on, Asprilla keen but just not at the level yet and Troost still picking passes to no one. I’m far from convinced by Davis either. Not sure he won a single aerial battle all night, looks good 40 yds out with his back to goal and on the occasions when he can turn and move he’s in the game, but other than that he’s just a lump who loses half the wrestling matches he starts and is knackered by the hour.

It wasn't a good cross. It was nowhere near anyone and pretty much straight at the keeper. We got lucky that their keeper made an absolute mess of it and pushed straight to Pedro

Did what needed doing. Good to see JP get a brace, Kalu looked bright again, make-shift back 4 keeps a clean sheet and no brain farts from Kabasele. More recovery for Cathcart too.

Sheff Utd and QPR lost tonight. Troy scored an 88th min equaliser to deny Swansea 3 points too.
4 wins out of 5, and if we win on Saturday we could be just 3 points off top, which is pretty decent going considering the bang average start to the season and inconsistency of the team.

Oh, and good to see Bilic has a sense of humour finishing the match with a front 3 of Kalu, Bayo and Gaspar!
