In 10 years of ownership we have never attempted a big money signing from the Championship and that will not change now.

Yeah I saw that too. As @Burnsy says likely just a Soppy replacement although they would still have Udogie (on loan) and Ebosele at RWB so it may have crossed their mind. Either way, Bellerin for the right terms, as a homegrown attacking wing back would be a smart pick up for the Pozzos (even if initially to Udinese) and they could send him to us should we get promoted or sell him to another PL side for quick profit even if he doesn’t perform that well.

Right, so if the likely happens and JP and Sarr both go, what then? I think at the least we'd still need another striker (Bayo and Manaj are clearly squad player level), a R(W)B (whatever formation we play, and whatever you say about Gaspar, we need more depth in that area anyway), alongside the possible loan signings of Hause and Stephens at the back, recruit well in those areas and that's a promotion challenging team right there. What are the rules regarding loans? We already have 2 (4 if Hause and Stephens arrive on initial loans), I don't suspect we'll actually buy anyone (we'd only be fleeced anyway!), how many more are we allowed? Can the good ship Udinese help us out a bit?

I wonder how long were we in for Choudhury, because it all seemed to happen very quickly off the back of a pretty shambolic midfield display up at West Brom, I wonder if we'll see business that quick in light of our current shortcomings?
Were we? I thought we were in for one of the Longstaff brothers back in Jan 2021 and Choudhury was linked with Newcastle? Besides, if we were interested in him back then, we didn't seem to follow it up for a long time
We have sacrificed far too much quality from our squad to assume it will still be automatically good enough for promotion. Two years ago it was; this time Pozzo’s going to have to back the coach. Today’s team shows Rob wants a RWB. We desperately need a LCB. Another CB who can play-out effectively would be nice. I think an attacking midfielder should be on the list - we shouldn’t be putting pressure on Asprilla to provide all our creativity for the season. Most importantly a forward who will be a consistent finisher. That’s the key difference between top teams in this league and also rans.
It seems as though the LCB and RCB are the closest (not ITK, but Hause and Stephens have been in the pipeline for a while now), RWB would have been important even if Edwards had decided that Gaspar was good enough as we don't have any right-footed full-backs/wing-backs (Ngakia aside obviously), now that he's picking Kamara over him it's an absolute must, and then a proper striker to play alongside Davis. While I'd like a creative midfielder to go alongside them, considering we have Asprilla already (hope his injury isn't too bad!), Louza to come back soon and TDB to come back more distantly, I don't think it'll be considered a priority
Is he actually that good? Right type of player, but struggling to get minutes at Udinese and Udinese are rubbish.
So did Sierralta, and he's a top Championship player, I don't see why Samardzic can't flourish in this league, be better for him than sitting on the bench at Udinese surely
