I'd imagine Gino will be giving this new signing the full red carpet treatment. Might even fly him down in his private Lear'd jet. Sorry
Wonder if the delay here is due to Laird's contractual situation as it looks like his contract expires June 2023. Would be quite unusual to loan a player out in the circumstances if there is even a slight prospect of him featuring in their plans, and so I wonder if a contract renewal or obligation to purchase is also being negotiated.
Think it was already suggested in the Manchester Evening News that he was extending his deal before moving.
United do have the option of an extra year but they value him so highly that i am certain that they will want to tie him down before he is seduced by the bright lights of Watford
JP to play alongside Cleverley in midfield when Louza and Gozzers are injured and TDB has been given to Huddersfield for free
Doesn't he have to have signed for us by Friday lunchtime in order to be eligible for West Brom? Not the biggest cause for concern at the club right now considering Gaspar has signed, but still, I'd rather we get this deal over the line as soon as possible
I doubt they would throw him straight in anyway. Probably hold him back at least a week as they have done with Gaspar. Not even convinced Gaspar will play on Monday.
Seems like this isn’t happening anymore. Wonder what happened. Guessing United had second thoughts and Laird will actually be apart of the first team squad.
Not reported anywhere. Latest suggestions yesterday were that it's still on track. Think we're just waiting on a new contract being agreed with Man Utd.
Feeling. Just seems strange that is was happening this week, since then it’s been crickets. Every outlet just regurgitating the original story, so nothing new. Maybe waiting on United signing Dest or another RB, but personally just think this deal is off.
I’m not sure. The Athletic and MEN both have very good sources at United and reported the stories independently. Talksport is less reliable but also framed it as their own story. I think it’s just that either United want to sort their incoming RB first or they want to sort his contract out. Similar thing just happened with Reds Khadra’s move to Brighton. Was all but confirmed for two weeks but didn’t quite go through.
It’s us and United. Probably the two most dysfunctional teams in England when it comes to making transfers.
Well this chap seems to blame Man U and Laird not signing a new contract yet . https://mobile.twitter.com/ExHornsEmployee/status/1555322895685091329
Backs up my earlier comment that this transfer is taking ages. Poor lad has already aged a year since it was first mooted!
