Didn't get off the bench for Brighton today. Making sure he doesn't get injured before his big move up north.
I never wear white unless I have to! The Cumberland team we played at Hazelwood last Monday all came in white ( they have to wear it for matches). They looked smart. Not that it helped them!
Chelsea are negotiating with Brighton for Marc Cucurella and are including Levi Colwill in the deal. You’d suspect that would reasonably free up Clarke to make a move now.
Interesting he’s most likely on the way to Chelsea as he’s been linked with Man City all summer. I wonder why that broke down?
I’d have thought that Clarke should be free to move regardless. Wasn’t in the squad last season and they already have Webster and Veltman as Left-footed CBs. You’d think that if they find a space for one of the Championship loanee CBs from last season it would be Van Hecke too. Leventhal commented on his Athletic QandA this morning that discussions with Clarke are ongoing but nothing imminent.
I wish these very rich clubs would consider for a moment how it makes the rest of us feel when they quibble over 10 million!
Not quite true I believe. I just don’t think he has any sources at Watford. But might have (or have colleagues who have) sources with the player/Brighton.
Brighton have let Duffy go on loan to Fulham. I know they’re getting Colwill, but maybe they see Clarke as a squad option for this season?
According to Wiki ( assuming its not been edited) he won PoTs last season at WBA. Its his 4th successive such award with 3 different clubs, WBA, Derby and Portsmouth. Pretty good going for a defender to win PoTs in any season let alone 4 times. But the main reason I like him is hes going bald at 25 which gives him a 1970s hard man look which I feel is an important attribute in a CB. Would contrast nicely with Sierraltas all round gorgeousness. Thats a yes from me.
Fulham getting a loan deal done quickly for an unwanted Brighton centre back. Don't they know that these things take 2 months?
We only seem to do two types of transfer. Mogi Bayat tat that is announced suddenly out of the blue, and the rare player that we actually want that drags out excruciatingly, constantly threatening to fall apart / be gazumped.
TUT has explained this to us. We must wait patiently in a line in case Newport make a bid instead. Only if there are no other interested parties can Pozzo be expected to get a non Bayat deal over the line.
Looks like it is 4 POTS awards in 5 years - so rubbish really! The other year he missed out to something called Graham Shinnie. Only joking it's obviously an extraordinary record. Incidentally within the last eight years both Hughes and Vydra have won the Derby POTS so it must be fate.
Wot ???? We didn't want Duffy ??. We have to wait to see if BHA even want to send Clarke out on loan. They may want to keep him. Even then there will clearly be competition. If he ends up joining another champ club or Newport, that's the time to whine. I'm sure Clarke & BHA aren't just sitting there waiting for the phone to ring.
We know your slippery ways. When he does join another championship team it will be "we simply don't know what went on. Perhaps Pozzo didn't rate him. Perhaps Edwards declined. Perhaps he had always wanted to live in Middlesborough. This is the second most successful owner in our history"
If he does join another championship club it would be true to say that ""we simply don't know what went on. Perhaps Pozzo didn't rate him. Perhaps Edwards declined. Perhaps he had always wanted to live in Middlesborough. This is the second most successful owner in our history" but it would still be very disappoining and so well worth a whine. I would be joining you....
Still have 2 or 3 left footers in the squad (is Colwill left-footed?), so maybe he's not in direct competition with Duffy
I’m just thinking, having sold Burn in Jan, now Cucurella (who I think played at LCB at least a couple of times?), Duffy leaving means they don’t actually have that many CBs on their books. Five, according to Transfermarkt - with one of those being 22yo Van Hecke who’s yet to make his Brighton debut. Clarke can’t be so far down the pecking order that they won’t consider keeping him.
I think Clarke is their sixth choice after Webster, Dunk, Colwill, Veltman and Van Hecke. But Clarke would be their second choice LCB I think.
