For ****'s sake. We're off on holiday on the Monday for a week. Wouldn't go as far as to say deliberately booked to leave the weekend free to go to football but I thought it would be a shoe in. Didn't even know / remember Monday night games were a thing in the Championship. And then I have to miss one of my easy away days the next weekend too. ******* EFL tinpot nonsense.
About as a hard a start as we could imagine for the Championship with Sheff Utd, WBA and Burnley up in the first 3 games. But the run-in looks especially kind, even by lower league standards.
So are we, were up in the Lake district so was hoping for Blackpool, Preston, Burnley or Blackburn away
I love that image. Seems like we have the chance to end our home league curse right from the get go - but being us, will probably extend it. I do agree though, first three are not easy and WBA is a tough first away fixture, then coming back to host boring Burnley.
If we do our normal nonsense of not sorting out a proper team until the end of the window we'll probably be bottom come September.
Who do we reckon will be the first visiting team to suffer the indignity of losing at ours since last November then?
A very, very tough start with this current squad. We could be 0 of out of 9. At least the Sheff Utd game is on TV. Can we keep our home record going?
Never one to be an optimist, but I'm going to give it a go here just for a laugh...tough start yes, and I can see us losing our first 3, but Forest were rock bottom last season after a few games and so were Sunderland in their Roy Keane era too once. So all would not be lost. Now pessimist hat is on. This is Watford so yes, we would be screwed.
Good god please anyone but him again. I would rather watch Burnley than our turgid sideways and backward passing football. Besides, we would need to shell out on more water bottles, he used to go through loads in post match interviews due to the grilling. Edwards needs time to cement his ethics, but I fear if we get like one win from the first five games, he will be on thin ice.
As I posted in the other thread, maybe a reason to keep at least Dennis, if not Sarr, for a few more weeks.
I agree. Edwards will need at least 6 pts from the first 5 games, 9pts would be better. If not, l think the board will be looking for another manager. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the club have put 'on hold' notices to several possible candidates already. Especially given the very tough start to such a limited squad as it stands now. Let's hope Edwards can make chicken soup out of chicken sh*t. Good luck to him.
On 30 August 1922, we played the first ever game at the Vic against Millwall. Exactly 100 years later we have a home game against Mi......................ddlesbrough
Not for me. Hearts aren’t in it, don’t want to be here, will train away from the squad so will mess up the harmony of the team. Need them gone in order to sign players that actually want to be here. If they stay and get injured that screws us. With 5 weeks until the season, ideally 95% of our business will be done in the next 2 weeks which includes those 2 gone.
Swansea home on a Tuesday or Wednesday in October OS , Watford Observer and BBC site say different dates.
I made a pilgrimage to his pub/restaurant in Totnes for lunch. I remember getting there about 12.00 - by which time he was already absolutely p155ed!
Floyd's Inn at Tuckenhay. I went there. He signed the back of one of my cheques. Not sure if he was drunk or not. Nice pub with great views of the river.
