Should be Kucka for the first 70 mins, then Cleverly for the last 20, in every game in the absence of Etebo....
Yes maybe but the cheap frrekicks we gave away in dangerous areas were worse. Still can't understand what Dennis was thinking so close to HT.
True, but there were other players that made mistakes that led to that goal. Louza losing the ball, Dennis making a silly foul and Foster could have arguably done more as well. He's far from a perfect player, but still offers more than Cleverley imo. Also going forward, Roy just has to manage his playing time, he definitely can't play 90 mins every game.
Say what you want about Kucka and his rubbish stamina, but he’s a far better player than Sissoko, who’s been utterly woeful recently.
Leventhal has tweeted to say this dud is being jettisoned. Option to renew his contract not exercised.
Didn’t Ucko say SD said in the fans forum next season Cleverley, Gosling and Kucka were going to be important players? I guess he changed his mind.
He could put it about for a max of 60 minutes. Tried but we need younger and a hell of a lot fitter the way he sets his teams up.
So from last summer’s in-take, Rose proved a huge flop, Tufan was sent home, Fletcher was banished on loan, Etebo and Kucka aren’t having their ‘option to buy’ clauses activated, King only scored in three matches and Sissoko flattered to deceive. Only Louza and Dennis could be considered any sort of a success (for the first half of the campaign at least in Dennis’s case). Throw in the January arrivals and Kalu and Kayembe weren’t worth a starting place while Samir wasn’t of the required quality. Only Kamara did well. How in God’s name can our recruiting team be trusted to build us a new look side in the championship? If we failed as badly in our jobs, we’d be shown the door.
Right decision, all the best Juraj. Tried hard but it's not his fault the club decided he was physically capable of starting 22 games and playing nearly 2,000 minutes this season.
Maybe they will take onboard some of the new guys choices of players. He couldn't do any worse than last Summers *****
If we’d signed him the first time we went up, he’d have probably been great. We’d look back fondly on the shithousing, poorly timed tackles and fleeting moments of skill all performed with the face of a madman. As it was we signed him well after his legs were gone, and most of what could have been enjoyed was totally soured by the fact it looked like he was running into hurricane force winds at all times.
Definitely an't play more than 60 minutes. Don't think he can be blamed for much. Gave his all all the the time, scored that crucial goal against Everton. Managers shouldn't have played him for more than what he was capable of playing at an ok enough level(60 minutes tops) and we shouldn't have signed a player with serious stamina issues in the first place. Good luck to him in the future. I won't miss him much, but I'll remember him much more fondly than some players(i.e. Tufan, Rose, etc. )
He can be blamed for always trying to smash it in from 30 yards! Overall, he could have been a useful signing, and was at times, but it's a terrible reflection on us that he was relied upon so much this season
Yes I agree, that's why I said he can't be blamed for much(I could have said he can't be blamed for anything, but that obviously wouldn't be true). Considering how poor some of our other players have been, Kucka has been ok as at least gave his all. I can respect that. Wrong signing, was played in a wrong way, but he had some integrity at least, and tried his best everytime he was picked.
Gave his all but is way past his prime and can't be playing 90 mins. Should have been the sort of player that comes on at the 65th minute to boost the midfield. If we had signed him 5 years ago he could have been a lot better.
Best moment was that powerful header that started the comeback at Everton. Almost scored with an identical header moments later before the strikers took over. Great attitude but not the legs.
He’s not amazing but is probably the best CB we have. So another who would be good in the Championship is going. A left sided CB who would play well in a three no doubt. Looks like we’ll have to extend Masina’s contract and convert him into this role. No Kucka, Etebo and Samir. It’s all shaping up nicely. Masina, Cleverley and Gosling it is then.
Couldn’t pass. Or shoot. Or run for more than an hour. But still arguably our best midfielder this season. Jesus f****** christ.
Certainly had heart and can tell he was quality once upon a time. His body just doesn’t do what he wants it to anymore. He might have been a Cassetti if we were in The Championship but the Premier League was far above his station.
Not as bad as some make out although in fairness one poster says the same about every player we've ever had. Would have been ideal squad player this year but unfortunately we didn't get enough quality around him. Good luck to him
I always got the impression that he would have been a superb signing had we signed him five years ago.
