Adam Levanthal saying in the Athletic that Watford fans should accept Hodgson’s apology for his behaviour on Saturday and move on.

Tone deaf.

 

Watford fans have been cucked for years. Why should they stop being cucked over this latest episode?

 

What apology?

Because I’ve read what he’s said - and it’s not an apology. It’s excuses for what he did - excuses for things that we all knew he would do but he expects people to believe he had zero awareness about.

Fire the moron out of a cannon and let him blow kisses to all his former clubs fans from space.

 

Sad but true.

 

Thing is, even though we suspected he would do this, I think many of us were joking and thought even he wouldn't go as far as he did to consciously thumb his nose at out fans.

If it were an isolated incident that's one thing, but he's antagonised the fans the whole time he's been here, whilst achieving precisely zero in his highly paid role.

 

Oh I genuinely believed he would act exactly how he did. And would defend himself exactly as he has.

 

Like the Pozzos withdrawing all our goal threat from the rest of the season, it's predictable in a way, but still hard to believe anyone will stoop quite that low. Then they do and worse.

 

Come off the fence Burnsy for goodness sake!

 

His 'apology' is a masterpiece. I love the bit where he essentially accepts he never bothers to acknowledge the home fans either and that somehow justifies his actions.

 

The best thing for everyone is for the club to ask Hodgson not to attend tonight's game. It will serve no one to have him sit there and be booed for 90 minutes. But, as always, the hierarchy are clueless. They will create a problem of their own making. It's going to be a car crash. We can all see what will happen and is so avoidable if brains are engaged.

But brains are not engaged. SD and GP are probably totally unaware of the depth of feeling. They are so divorced from the fanbase that only the blunt instrument of 90th minute booing and jeering might actually get through.....but only if they turn up of course.

 

They’ve painted themselves in to this corner so they’ve only got themselves to blame. Despite everything Hodgson has (or indeed hasn’t) done, getting rid of him now would ratchet up the media hate and the Watford are a circus narrative. They made their bed long ago so this is just their chickens coming home to roost.

 

Agreed. At least Ray Lewington still has some credit in the bank for his past heroics, leave it to him.

 

And he accepts it was a mistake at Liverpool - but has continued to do it ever since.

And Saturday was a result of him ‘only’ having 5000 people tell him they loved him when he left Palace before - so when the opportunity arose to have an extra 20000 fans tell him was too good to pass up.

 

It’s an easy get-out for them - Watford fans haven’t been in unison about owners or managers for a long time. There won’t be songs of disquiet - and if there are, only a select few will join in and they will die off. Just loudly booing can be attributed to any and all involved - Hodgson, players, hierarchy…so as such, it won’t heavily come down on Hodgson alone.

There’s no real danger of disquiet being directed at any one group or individual tonight. Anyone thinking there will be, are forgetting to who we are and what ‘atmosphere’ there is.

 

Will wait and see but I just don't see it happening. I think a lot of people who would have booed will just not go instead.

 

Yep. I have to laugh at all the people claiming it will be ‘toxic’ tonight.

 

I’ll take back everything I’ve said about the 1881 if they start a ‘Hodgson, give us a wave’ chant.

Sure, he’s relegated us and pissed all over our grave, but if our fans can back him into a corner, where against every instinct he has he’s forced to publicly acknowledge the crowd, in a small way, we’ll have won.

There will be empty seats, tutting, sighing and some serious apathy.

 

I hope Herts Police have the horses out tonight to keep everyone in line.
