It's not even the damage limitation stuff, I MAY understand that to a degree. At one point he literally passed it off the pitch. What the hell is that about?
Should not play another minute. His performance today was one of the worst performances i've ever seen. Laughable. Stick Baah or Kalu in.
Apparently Newcastle are only planning to spend £80m this summer on 3 or 4 players because of FFP. I doubt they'll spunk half of that on Sarr, if they do go for him we'll get £25m at most out of them.
I wonder if £80m is the 'total deal' amount, or just the outgoing cash in the window without additional instalments?
We’ll probably end up loaning him out on deadline day at this rate Another Pozzo player trading masterclass
I don't buy the 'Sarr is awful' takes. I think he's very very good and has the potential to be one of the best wingers in the league under a proper coach and in a good team. He has however been garbage for us since his injury. I also think there is an argument that he's the worst signing the Pozzo's have made. Bought him for too much money in a position Gracia didn't use when they could & should have used the money to buy a new CB & Striker and back Gracia. That led to Gracia's sacking, which has led to the shambolic last few seasons.
I haven't seen him fully sprint since his return. It's either damage limitation, he's not over the injury or he doesn't trust it. But without using his pace he's pretty much useless at this level.
I would also imagine this is a tactical ploy to drive price down if they set this as an expectation publicly.
Sorry, but Sarr is awful (in comparison to what we shelled out for him). He's a typical average winger, 1 good game in about 6, goes missing constantly, his technical ability is questionable, his decision making is abject and his finishing is feeble. On his day he's a real handful BUT £80m wingers (which he could've been with the right attitude) don't go missing and have 1 poor game in 6. They're also match winners at the highest level. Take Richarlison as a good example, he's almost singlehandedly dragged Everton towards safety with his goals since coming back in and has been the difference between the two teams. I maintain he's not a good player, he's a very average winger at the top level and a very good Championship player. He's 24, not 19, so he should be progressing as a player not regressing.
I watched Leventhal's post-game walk-to-the-car live this afternoon, and it was fairly interesting - this was his answer to a viewer question about Sarr: “Well, the Sarr situation is gonna be very interesting *visibly shakes head* his form has fallen off a cliff, and… I feel for him, and… I feel for the club… because they need to get money in for him. I think they’ll probably be relying on getting more money for Emmanuel Dennis. Someone’s got to want you, to get some money for you… and I’m not sure how many clubs will be that enamoured with his performances of late”
And with a shopping trolley you get both utility and your initial outlay back when you pass it on to another user. Four wheels good two legs bad.
It’s a tough one. If we can’t get at least £25m for him I can’t see them selling him. Although he’s only got 2 years left on his contract. So what do they do? Accept the best offer regardless of what it is, try to get him to extend his contract, or keep him another year and hope we bounce back after he’s had a good season. Hopefully Newcastle will save our bacon and buy him for £40m plus add-ons. They will be the new Everton, when it comes to idiots with money.
Hope indeed, though that 'loan to Udinese' loophole that's great for everyone but us is suddenly looming increasingly large.
Who else noticed when Sema came on, he looked a far better player compared to Sarr, because he wanted to impress, so he put in more effort. But we have one of the most talented players in the squad in Kalu just there on the bench every game watching Sarr being **** in every game. It's obvious there is no competition for places in the team since Roy took over because he has is own preferred players. I think it probably sent the wrong messages to the likes of Kalu, Etebo, Sierralta etc and as a result they stopped putting much effort in training. We really got relegated that moment Roy took over. We simply should have gone for big Sam. Sent from my AUM-L29 using Tapatalk
There is no real evidence Newcastle are “Idiots with money” sure they paid over the odds for Wood, but Trippier and Guimares were smart buys who have helped them them with the latter being nominated for player of the month. I dare say in a summer window when they aren’t threatened with relegation they’ll do even better. Everton have provided a great blueprint for what not to do, i.e. fill your team with players from clubs like Watford.
Yeah. Sam Ucko. I would not want that tax dodging bully to ever sully the green sward at the Vic thanks.
Implied criticism of Sarr from the club for his apparent anti-gay stance. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61492696
Would love to get rid of him for any half-decent sum. If there's anything we've learnt over the last few years its that 'talent' is no substitute for mentality. Sarr is the epitome of the mentally-weak but good-on-paper squad we've had in recent years. Need to rebuild in a different way.
https://www.jeunesfooteux.com/Ismai...wcastle-Crystal-Palace-et-Everton_a55180.html A French media source reporting that Everton, Newcastle, Palace and an unnamed German club are interested in him, and that we want €35m (just under £30m)
If true, I'm not sure we'll get £30m for him, but the fact that there are at least 4 clubs interested is somewhat encouraging, if Everton sell Richarlison for big money and use it to buy Sarr I promise I won't chat **** about you anymore!
Would be amazed if Everton spend those types of prices for a while. New stadium, no Russian money, huge question marks over the validity of their current financial declarations. And they bought Gray, Townsend and Rondon last summer for next to nothing. Not sure Palace have a need for him personally. Certainly not at that money. Newcastle, Dortmund or Leipzig maybe - but I’d paying big money doesn’t seem like Leipzig’s MO.
Everton may spend a bit if they sell their big assets, but I think it's unlikely they spunk £30m on one player. Toon do seem the most likely, not saying they're gonna spaff money up the wall left right and centre, but money is no object to them...
Yep, they have loads of decent wingers on both sides right now. He could maybe also go to Leverkusen if they sell Diaby, which has been rumoured.
