Did you manage to pick up a knighthood for yourself or at least a baronetcy while you were there?

Nothing. Frankly it was barely worth the trip for me. Apparently Anne didn’t even ask after me.
Bit of a sad day in many ways as, having been on the honours list 1/1/2021, she really wanted to take her father (her mum died 25+ years ago) but he had terminal cancer at the time of the announcement and died last April. He was really proud and would have been completely wowed by the experience. I’m not much of a royalist, or fan of the aristocracy, and it was all I could do to avoid venting my fury that you have to pay £300 for the digital images of the official photos (absolutely no photos allowed inside the palace). No option to get one or two digital images for £20. Imagine a carer or regular nurse being given an MBE and then having to decide whether she should cancel the family summer holiday to be able to afford the digital photos to evidence the occasion. They should be given free of charge. Really, really annoyed me….they obviously just assume that only the rich get awards and £300 is just loose change.
    Anyway…..

Frankly I am astonished that Anne did not wish to take issue with you on your opinion of Pozzo. Opportunity missed there.

My sources tell me she's the other COG. VoR or HB1....that's the question.

That’s despicable. Do you know where the money goes - exorbitant profit for the photographer?

Just a great contract for the photographer I expect. I wouldn't expect them to do it for free, but would have expected "The Palace" to cover the cost of the photos for what for many will be one of the most memorable days of their lives. You can buy the odd paper photo but everyone wants the digital version these days for facebook etc and no there's option but to buy the whole lot for £300.

I just really hope none of it goes towards the cost of running the occasion or the general upkeep of Buck House.

It would have been interesting to hear Anne's view on whether Sarr is best played out wide or if she feels he could do a job as a central striker. A missed opportunity TUT

Actually was surprised he was considered, given his criminal record.
It was suggested he only got the award due to his familiarity with the 6 wives of one of the former monarchs :)

    CBE.
Englebert Humperdinck listed for an OBE too. Real name Arnold Dorsey. Which begs a question. I'd always thought EH was just an unfortunate and unique birth name. But if that wasn't your real name...why the hell would you pick it ???

So looks like there is now more people in UK hospitals than the peak of the January 2022 wave and looks likely we'll probably have more hospitalisations than the first wave. Fortunately those jabs are keeping the ventilator stats down to around 10% of previous pre-jab peaks.

Wouldn't be surprised if they expand the Spring booster jabs to everyone ahead of next winter.

Glad I work from home on a permanent basis these days!

Mr HH finally tested negative today, on Day 9; seems to be the standard with this strain.

Yes hospitals are opening new covid wards. As you say most patients aren't as seriously ill, and many have come in with other problems only to find they have covid and need to be segregated, but numbers are def rising....plus of course the knock on effect of staff absences, not just in hospitals but eg airlines having to cancel flights etc.

Went to Watford A&E last Thursday mid morning as Mrs D had had a bit of a fall. On the way there we both said the place will be empty. It was heaving. Went back there on Saturday as the old girl is in after a minor operation. Her ward was above A&E so I went in that way, it was beyond heaving and then some. I got out quickly.

So that's three I know took around 10 days to get a -tve test.

As as aside, I saw my first lot of testing kits for sale in Tesco the morning - all piled up and £2 a pop. But no petrol.

I've got it for the first time. Pretty mild. The real annoying thing is I'm supposed to be on a stag do this weekend and that now looks out the window!

    That’s a pain.

Mine wasn’t so mild and a few weeks on I’m still getting the odd coughing fit. Had some fatigue and back on my bike hard efforts are tough. But I am bit of an old git and it is getting better all the time.

My friend tested positive Monday at the first sign of symptoms and yesterday tested negative. Seems like it can go through a lot quicker now. I’d give it right up to the last minute if you’re going away.

This is what I’m bricking it about, I have a stag do to Barcelona the weekend before Glastonbury and I seriously do not want to miss that. Wouldn’t mind catching it before the stag but not on the stag, which must have a high probability. triple jabbed and had omicron at Xmas but 6 months is a bit of a worrying gap to have not had it since.

It now comes down to what would make you test.

A girl I work with had a runny nose at the end of last week which she put down to hayfever, but she tested for Covid and has subsequently been testing positive all week. Some will test at the slightest sniffle, some will never test at all - it depends where you sit on that spectrum I suppose.

My wife and I tested positive for 12 days, but we hadn’t had it before and it had been 4 months since our booster.

Im sure it’s a lot faster if you caught omicron at Christmas

I got it reasonably mildly. Tested negative on day 10 but it has left me with a cough that I’m still struggling to shake off nearly 3 weeks down the line. Annoying and can be embarrassing when you’re out somewhere and have a coughing fit; feel like having a sign on my forehead saying don’t worry, the cough is because I have just had covid not because I have it now.

Yep, nobody wants anyone coughing over them these days.

I was concerned about this before a gig I went to about 10 days after testing negative, but my cough seemed miraculously better after a couple of pints and I had a good night. :)

    Why are people still testing?

Is it still a requirement for entry to places and events?

Genuine question, because I can’t remember the last time anybody I know over here got tested for COVID. It’s just stopped being a thing.

As a courtesy to people who are at a greater risk. I test after being in a high risk situation, like a crowded pub quiz, simply because if I pass it on to say my aged and infirm parents, It's likely to have serious complications for them.

With the greater chance that people may be infected without knowing it with the latest strain, I think testing if anything is more important now.
