I'm fed up of Josh King. Fed up of him 'looking like' a striker, but failing to do what you'd expect a striker to do - goals and assists. No shots yesterday. Awful. People can say about the service, but a striker is supposed to get themselves in the positions and I'd submit Joshua/Josh ain't. All he seems to do is 'hate' goals against former clubs. We're almost certainly down anyway, so I say it's time to send for Fletch. Someone who, despite certain limitations, knows his way around the penalty box and would be able to perhaps manage more than the powder puff efforts straight at the keeper that josh(ua) has served up - and those rarely. He's got a point to prove, he'll be hungry for action and we have absolute nothing to lose.... SEND FOR FLETCH!
I don't disagree with you Clive, as I was about to say that it was time for King to be dropped myself. Whether or not Fletch would be the answer as his replacement is another subject, but he could hardly be any worse than King so why not give him a go because we need goals from somewhere and King is not going to be the one to provide them.
Agreed. He is past his best, the only reason King was good at Muff was because defenders attention was all on Wilson. Fletcher needs game time to get up to speed and ready for a tough season ahead in the Championship
Brilliant idea. We need a new chant as well. "FEED THE FLETCH" seems fun. I don't know if anyone remembers "Shaun Goater" from Man City? Fans' used to chant "Feed the Goat and he will score".
Oh dear has it come to this? Fletcher should never of been recruited let alone start for us. Would rather give JP or Cucho a run out.
I don't care which one of these we choose, as long as King is dropped. Having said that I think Fletcher is possibly the understudy for King as I believe he is the only other forward who can play as a lone striker and hold up the ball for others. So if Roy is going to play that way he might be who we should try, but if we are not looking to play a lone striker, I would definitely prefer to play one of the other two.
I'm with you Clive! People seem to have a downer on Fletch. I've only seen him play twice and each time he scored. What have we got to lose by putting him in? It feels at the moment that we need a miracle to survive but maybe we need a new hero, young & hungry to prove himself? While we're about it, play Cucho with him and see if they gel?
I was so disappointed yesterday I still haven’t been able to read the match day thread post game , don’t think I can handle it. thing about king is that he is getting in to the right place but fluffing his shots (he had the volley over the top and a couple of headers off target) , I think Dennis is equally culpable he has lost his touch (hopefully temporary , although doubt if he will be with us in the championship), so it’s a toss up somebody who gets into the right position but needs 10 shots to score , or someone who needs 3 shots to score but has forgotten how to shoot how can you have JP/ Dennis / Sarr / King on the pitch at the same time and not get a goal, it is almost unbelievable. i think I would be tempted to start with Cucho / JP / Sarr and let Dennis and king work out what is going on , def bring fletcher on to the bench so we can try him out though
When do we know for sure that the Pozzo tenure has gone full circle and we’re back where we started when they bought us? Not particularly catchy as questions got, but I’m sure others can come up with better.
When your name is Gino Pozzo and your scrambling through the cheap reserve bins outside of Transfer Window HQ in a desperate attempt to appease fans' with a replacement for Deeney and Gray, who do you pull out of the burning bin left alone behind the others?
Slightly off topic, but if we go down I'd be quite happy with Cucho/King/JP as our front 3 in the champo.... With Fletcher as back up. I think Cucho is high energy, skillful and underrated and would be good at that level....
I was tempted to go with this but my internal taste filter prevented me. In part I'm glad someone had the bravery/experience.
Funnily enough we only came second this month. Not good enough and I've been revising my occupation names.
