You need to learn to separate what a player does on the pitch vs what they do off of it. People are likely do have separate and differing opinions to both.
Do you think Gomes needs to do this as well? Because he said that Foster is not only a great GK but a great guy too
Pointing out that Gomes said those things about him, so do you think he needs to do the same as you are suggesting I should do
So let me get this straight, you’re saying that whatever fellow goalkeeper Gomes says is indisputable fact and nobody can have a different opinion to his?
Gomes also actively supported the despot Brazilian President who has vocally been against same-sex marriage, homosexuality and abortion - has shown right-wing tendencies, supports burning down rainforests and rowing back support of indigenous populations and has also denied Covid is real and a threat despite the Brazilian death figures being amongst the highest in the world. So yeah, your viewpoint is interesting.
His views are his views, whether you agree or not (I don't by the way). However, I liked Gomes for his professionalism whilst at the club, his bond with the fans was incredible and on top of all that he was a quality goalkeeper, probably our greatest ever.
Which no one is disagreeing with. But TVOR’s argument seems to be that Gomes has an opinion on a person so therefore everyone must agree with it or they are wrong. I was merely pointing that Gomes himself is hardly foolproof when judging people so it’s an odd analogy.
Gomes is the best GK I've seen play for us. But, that only goes as far back as the 2000/01 Season so would defer to your judgment re: Tony Coton. As for Bachmann and Foster, although I've defended Bachmann and think he deserved a run of games, we've seen him have a run of games now and has been less convincing than Foster which wasn't a high bar. Neither GK is truely PL standard but Bachmann is top end Championship keeper while Foster is a Bottom 5 PL keeper. We've beaten this issue to death but Bachmann's lack of experience has been massively exposed this Season in handling his 6 yard box and beyond when the pressure's on while Foster's experience definitely comes through.
Apologies to @Bubble @PowerJugs and anybody else who never saw Coton play. Forgot how old I was. You'll just have to trust me, he was unbelievably good
Indeed. Our best ever keeper and we’ve had a few great keepers. Just pipped Perry Sucking and Simon Sheppard.
He was also extremely quick when needing to deploy himself to an outfield player disagreement that kicked off miles away from his box,
All you have to know is that Foster is the latest football dupe to be drawn into the NFT scam world, and promote it to his legions of impressionable followers as a result.
Ben will probably be buzzing to have Uncle Roy in - worked together at England and West Brom (I think)
Looks like Foster has teamed up with John Terry for some kids thing and it hasn’t gone down well. https://mobile.twitter.com/BenFoster/status/1488268477366702080
