If he does this on Match of The Day after the Burnley game, I take it all back.

Can't wait for the players to put his speech at training on TikTok.

"Hello, I'm Woy. I'm taking over fwom Waniewi"

I would rather have Roy Castle, who by the way was a brilliant stand in for Bruce Forsyth on the Generation Game, when Bruce slipped a disk taking his money off shore in 1975.

The press can’t slag off Roy Hodgson. After he is sacked we will have to appoint Dame Vera Lynn.

I take all that and don't disagree - but Palace fans were pretty happy to be rid of him weren't they? Think they appreciated him and no bad blood....but they knew ha had to go. Maybe that was just because it had run it's course I suppose, don't really know. Maybe he just needed to recharge his batteries but the age thing is a concern.

That was outstanding. Must be almost 10 years ago. But would be nice to have someone who doesn’t communicate in platitudes for once (to be fair we had this with Pearson too but I think he self-censored a fair bit after the Ostrich stuff).

Hard to disagree with that although everything was ageing and going stale at Palace last season, not just Roy, and he still kept their very average squad pretty far from relegation. I also think some of their complaints related to style of play and I think when you are guaranteeing a 10-15th place finish every season eventually fans say “we’re ok not competing but we want to enjoy the football a little more.” Beggars can’t be choosers and I’d a snooze fest (this season) if it kept us up.

Kevin Day, a big Palace fan, and in my book not particularly funny, did make me laugh a propos the Harry v Zaha standoff, when he said Roy should be looking for a seven foot glass and a large piece of card.

Not really suited to being the Gaffer. Constantly undermined by Ca$hton and Simpson. His teams were ultra-conservative and had his favourites who he would always pick whatever their form. Undone by his '2 more wins and we're safe' statement to the players in the last third of the season which saw the team go on a near-fatal winless run, which saw him replaced by Aidy Boothroyd and Watford then keeping Tier 2 status by their fingernails.

Roy Castle and his bloody trumpet which he would try and play at every opportunity. He replaced Micheal Crawford in the lead for the West End musical Billy (Liar), it's run ended soon afterwards. However, kudos for him being in Amicus' Hammer rip-off Portmanteau film, Dr. Terrors House Of Horrors and the first Peter Cushing Dalek fim.

I just worry for what it would mean in the summer. If he keeps us up, then great. But I think we would extend his deal (or even give him 18 months now) and that’s a concern. Roy Hodgson isn’t how this club progresses in anything other than super short-term.

I really hope this deal is done with the express understanding and acceptance from both parties that it’s done in the summer. Roy walks away regardless and we don’t get the backlash of sacking another one.

I do have an awful feeling this is gonna be an 18 month deal though. I don’t think he’d agree for just 6 months. Hope I’m wrong.

Half expecting a rant after we get another red card and a penalty awarded against us. When it rains, it pours.

I'm glad we have done any with that youthful tyke Ranieri and gone for some experience in Roy Hodgson.

Just seems a case of short termism again from the board. So many different styles in a short period of time no wonder the players look lost.

Thank **** for Covid and I do not have to go into the office to have people laugh at me and my little club.

we are becoming a laughing stock - I cannot get excited at the thought of Woy leading the team. I cannot imagine half the players can either

It’s the exact polar opposite of that. You don’t hire a 74 year old to rebuild, this is a desperate attempt to hang on the PL at all costs, rebuilding and any sort of future planning can wait as far as Gino is concerned.

As long as he can "remember what he went in there for" when he walks into his training sessions I guess it makes sense. I doubt he will be successful but, given the run we are on and the way the season has capitulated, I'm not sure anyone else prepared to come here in this situation would be successful. A calming presence while they plan for next season.

This is an excellent appointment. Put it this way, how would you feel if one of our rivals hired Hodgson and Lewington? I’d certainly would feel that that club would have a chance of getting out of trouble. I felt the same when Dean and Shakespeare went to Norwich and look at the impact they’ve had there.

We’ve given ourselves a strong fighting chance of surviving now, and that’s all that matters for this season.

Again like last time if prem survival is the goal I wanted Big Sam , didnt see Woy coming ,initially a left field short term appointment (is there any other type at the Vic these days).
Sticking plaster time again that I doubt will work .
What I would like to see is a up and coming young manager given a squad of younger players to mould into a team ,increase the academy funding and build foundations for the future ,if we have to get relegated once or twice so be it.

If Woy is the right man for the job why wasn't he appointed 4 months ago? At all levels our recruitment process is shambolic. Resign Duxbury you incompetent smug a-hole!

There’s something quite humorous about replacing one 70+ year old manager you could argue was out of touch with modern day football with another.
