At this rate we’ll be digging our fourth manager of the season up when the time comes.

74 years old. Glad to see the Pozzo's have the same philosophy to young managers as they do young players.

Hard to fathom but then I shouldn't really be surprised.

I think at this stage I don’t know whether to hate them or just respect them, they clearly do not give a flying **** what anyone thinks, and if they get something wrong they just double down even harder. Takes some balls.

Poor Ray Lewington if he comes in and sees the way the club is run now. Poor Roy. I dont want these men I have huge respect for to come to this circus.

How the feck have we maybe managed to employ someone older than Claudio? Is Gino going for some kind of manager age total record?

I wonder when our actual nadir will be? I mean every time you think it can’t get any worse or more bizarre, it always does, every single time.

It will be the ghost of Ray Wilkins next, only Gino will be able to see him though.

It'll be one of Gino, Duxbury or Giaretta in charge. And I wouldn't rule it out.

No one can accuse the Pozzos of being ageist . Equal opportunity employers .that’s Surely a non toxic quality

Well relegated to League One like so many teams who have gone down and struggled ?

Some still trying to get out of it .

It’s not great but hardly the worse ever unless you have only been a fan for 10 years ..

Bizarre yes I agree it’s all a bit left field .

The one thing I’ll say about people like Hodgson and Ranieri, is that there is obviously something that makes people like them successful in the first place, compared to us mere mortals. There is just no logical reason for either of them to put themselves through it, but they obviously just can’t resist it however bizarre and ridiculous it is.

Appointing a bloke who broke the record as the oldest man to ever manage in the PL.... 3 years ago

For context, he beat Sir Bobby to get that record who was a great manager in his time but, God bless him, couldn't tell the difference between Carl Cort and Shola Ameobi by his last few seasons

I actually like Roy as well, its just such an uninspiring choice considering the last bloke was supposedly sacked for not having his heart in the job and being one foot into retirement

What is the problem? We are putting a long term strategic plan in place with Roy at the wheel. He is considerably younger than that President of the United States. (even if the US presidency is an easier job)

As said in the other thread - Roy was sacked by the Pozzos after he criticised them for being a shambles to the English press:

    "extremely strange club"
he and the players were "not as well supported as we should be".
"Obviously I'm very happy to be back at this level of football but I could have chosen a better club to come back to."

Odds on him saying the same thing in a few days time?

A deeply unimaginative appointment that will probably ultimately end in failure, and with us basically back where we started in a few month's time, but in all fairness, out of all the managers who were likely to be linked to the job, I'd say we could have done much worse than Hodgson

Robson did a fantastic job at Newcastle, arguably much better than Hodgson did at Palace, who after finishing a very creditable 11th with a team that had a dire start was somewhat underwhelming in his last three seasons (but did better than most managers would have I guess given it's Palace).

Not saying you are wrong but has that been said ?

Not sure what the issue is with Hodgson. He has an excellent record wherever he's gone. Only real blemish I can recall at club level was at Liverpool. Certainly he has more success than failure.

I'm really pleased that Lewington will be coming back too. He was excellent as manager. It's a very strong managerial team.

It'll only be short term (aren't they all at Watford), but it'll be a contract to the end of the season, with an option to extend if everyone is happy to do so.

Now is not the time to experiment with a risky young coach. The more I'm thinking of it, the more it makes sense to me.

If it's a 'steady pair of hands' to the end of the season with the view of a landing a Diego Martinez-type in the summer for an actual long-term project then I'm for it.

The experience of Ranieri but with a decent recent PL record. Hopefully the players play for him.
