Some poor and sometimes wildly inaccurate commentaries on here.
Two poor defences on display, but, although without Vardy, Leicester's attack looked, both on paper and on the pitch, to have far too much quality for Watford's midfield and defence. Their movement quality completely opened up this defence, especially the central back line. Also their finishing was far superior (excepting Pedro's goal).
However, I thought Ngakia had a decent game, particularly going forward. Morris looks a promising player, is he still a teenager?
I do worry, however, that this run of defeats may well have affected the overall confidence of the squad.
And there are three very important games coming up.
(And there will not be enough time to bed the new defenders in).

We just signed one for nothing. There aren’t many for nothing ones left around.

And when you do get them, 2 appearances then a season ending injury is about your money's worth.

It’s almost like signing players who have been sitting around for months without a club could result in disastrous season ending injuries after a couple of games. Who would have thought it?

It’s almost as if signing out-of-contract players who haven’t had a pre-season was a terrible idea made out of desperation due to awful squad building.

    Almost.

I am finding it difficult to categorise how I feel at the moment. The anger phase has passed, and I appear to be in the resigned/shrug the shoulders phase (as do many of our current players). We cannot compete at the top level and the sad fact is we are never going to be anymore than a yo yo club. We had our sequential stint in the top league and unless we find backers with no limits of money, we will only have occasional visits back to the Prem. Championship seasons have just got to be more enjoyable in that we have a chance of competing. It looks very much like us, Burnley and Norwich for the drop. Teams like Brentford, Brighton, Palace, Leeds, Wolves and Southampton, whilst better than us at the moment, will be battling in the seasons to come to survive. We can blame the Pozzos, our very long list of managers or the players, but we ultimately are not wealthy enough for ongoing survival at the top level.

Ngakia and Pedro were the only positives today. I would think that the mood in the boardroom and the dressing room mirrors mine at the moment. Can’t see the new signings making that much of a difference.

    Tough few months ahead.

We need another centre back urgently then. No point naming him in the 25 man squad

All comfortably good enough to be back up, as I've been told many times. Catchart is more than adequate as a 3rd choice centre back, just as long as he never, ever has to play. Same for the rest of them. Pleased with our mud at the wall transfer policy which fills our squad with wastrels on long contracts whilst we baulk at ever buying any potentially decent players because of our ongoing liabilities.

We spent ages and lots of money getting rid of the last wave of passengers and bad eggs, but it's not taken us long to more than replace them, has it.

This is why I’m struggling to live football anymore. I was lucky to support us from 79/80 and the Taylor years when football wasn’t so elitist. Money now rules the game. There is just no fun in it anymore. If it wasn’t for the social side I’m not sure I would bother anymore which I never thought I’d say

Because we buy players aged 30+ on 3-5 year deals.

I actually prefer being in the Championship but we lose more games in the PL so I get to whinge more often. It's a real dilemma.

I love the FA Cup but I don’t care about our reserves losing to Leicester’s reserves. Their squad is better than ours so we lost. Not a big revelation and not relevant to our season.

Anyone reading more into today’s kick about is a fool.

Winnable game next week (assuming we are as good as Cambridge), would like JP to get a start.

We also sign (not buy) players with known attitude problems or track records of being unwanted by clubs.

I would add,a little like one of many great lines in Gordon Forbes "A Handful of Summers",when the player keeps saying "my best game is two weeks away".
    Of course it never comes.
As Steely Dan said "the time of our lives has come and gone,I fear we've been waiting too long".

I really can't wait to see us move to 3 ATB to try and give some support to our woeful defence.

It's also clear that a team without Sissoko and Louza paired is going to be relegation quality only at best.

Under normal circumstances Watford going out of the cup with a whimper is hardly anything to get excited about . In the context of having lost this many games in a row and once again our defence undoing some fairly promising attacking play, it is a bit worrying .

Nevertheless , the next 3 games are the ones that really count. The lack of any form is a worry as it feels like this is really it now and the team need to pull it together. If we do pull out a response vs Newcastle and the players were holding back a bit at the end then so be it and I’m not gonna cry about it . Just feels like so much pressure on the Newcastle game now !

    Morris looks promising.
Ngakia and Joao did well and Fletcher wasn't too bad.
I guess we can't judge the other 2 kids too harshly.
The rest of the lot were awful.

He did nothing at all. The one sniff he did get at the start of the second half he was too slow to capitalise on and did a pathetic dive to try to con a penalty out of Dean.

Basically the same old ones !

    Which is the problem.

Our defence would leak goals against anyone I feel .

It seems we have some quality players (JP / Dennis / Sarr / sissoko ) but we don’t have any form of team at all , nothing really gels , lots of players have no spirit , we really are just 1 great big shambles

Sierralta matter of time before he gave a penalty away like that just glad it was in the cup not legue , a lot of our defenders seems to think it’s ok to pull down the opposition in the box surprised we don’t give away more

Thought JP / ngakia and cucho were trying hard and the best on the pitch

unusually for cleverly kept forgetting he was on the pitch

fatty tufan - shame Danny rose didn’t hit him harder (allegedly) , obviously I don't condone violence but would rather he hadn’t played

Don’t blame the young players in fact I feel sorry for them

Don’t blame CR70 (yet) either and although we have lost 7 on the trot we wouldn’t have expected to get a lot out of them (our cancellations came at the wrong time) , if he doesn’t get some decent results in the next 3 games think he might be in trouble though

let’s just hope some of our new signings come good

We are always going to be fighting an uphill battle because of our financial position. However, we would give ourselves far more a fighting chance if we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot on such a consistent basis.

When we barely had a pot to piss in, did we really need to spend 6m on a goalkeeper who won't play for us until next summer? Would that money not have had a greater impact being spent on someone like Doig so that we didn't have to resort to a free transfer who we are now trying to ship out 5 months later?

What was the thought process being bringing Kucka and Tufan? Tufan was renowned even in the Turkish league for being fat and slow, so what made the scouts think he was a suitable signing for us? How many other PL squads have 40 years old box to box midfielders? Did we really need those two adding to a midfield with the pace of Cleverley and Gosling?

Dennis, Moussa and King have been successful signings, but the rest of the transfer activity was frankly absymal.
