Yes it's cheesy - but hey this forum is all about cheese.

So from me to you -

I wish all WFC Forums a Happy Xmas and a New Year. I hope Santa gives you all want you wished for - and you have been very good boys and girls and do not find coal in your stockings. :)

    Santa doesn't exist.
I've already seen my amazon gift card arrive in the post from Mrs TuT and transferred some cash from my mother's bank account (that I control) so all my pressies are in and accounted for.
Just looking forward to the Boxing Day defeat or postponement now.
    Happy Xmas everyone :).

Santa is an American facsimile of the Real Father Christmas who certainly does exist.

I know cos I was him once, and I exist, just.

I will, however, probably drink myself out of existence on Christmas and Boxing Day.

So while I’m sober, I wish a happy healthy Christmas to all Hornets.

The relentless pressure to submit to the greed, consumerism and wastefulness of Christmas puts me in a funk every year. I have to double up on the old happy pills because so many things about it royally **** me off. Despite the fact I’m never alone over Christmas it does make me feel very lonely and disconnected.

That said, it does remind one to grateful for the people and things we have in our lives and the new year, although an arbitrary motivation always feels like a catalyst for positive change on a personal level.

An aside, as I type this I’m sat on the edge of the bath having just had a shower and the window is open. Birds in the trees in the garden were chirping very loudly, piercing and high pitched. They suddenly all stopped as one and there was a deaf silence for a full minute, not even cars from the town centre half a mile up the road. Weird.

    Anyway…

I wish you all a happy festive period, I hope it’s a time of relaxation and you’re able to spend it with friends and loved ones. Peace and goodwill and all that. Don’t be a ****.

Yeah, but the subject on the bath is usually a gorgeous semi naked shapely blonde to transfix the viewer and draw you into the narrative.

I fear Filbert would have us running for the exit.. and the birds obviously all saw you through the window and were struck dumb

A perfect storm of Honest Brendan doing his managerial jazz and doing nonsense subs under the guise of being smart and a genuinely bent refereeing display. Trust me, I’m not being one eyed, it was bent as ****.

Happy Christmas everyone. However you’re spending it - whether in a mass gathering or in splendid isolation (voluntary or Covid-forced) - I hope you have a lovely time and, if you’re isolating, get some well-earned r&r. And enjoy the fact that, for the first time, there’s no way Boxing Day can be spoiled by a Watford defeat.

It is a time of year that creates mixed emotions. It is a great time of year for young children, then as teens and young adults the social life is enjoyable, when you have young kids, you share their excitement and marvel at their wonderment. I am at the stage where my children are young adults and the buzz (for me) has diminished. If my kids have kids, and I am still alive, the enthusiasm may return. Not being religious in any way, means that I don’t get the spiritual lift either. It’s a time to try to relax, enjoy the period off work and try to look appreciative for the XXL jumper present.

Spare a thought for the homeless, poor, bereaved extremely sick and at end of life people. As I have become older and older the thought of a New Year holds less and less excitement for me. It's a year nearer to that point when one shuffles off this coil. I do love seeing the missus and little ones having a good time but deep down inside there is that nagging feeling that will not go away. I do find the rampant consumerism rather nauseating and the whole message of the festive season has been readily forgotten in an orgy of excess.

Sometimes I do wonder what it's all about. I lost my father last week and it has left me numb and life lost a lot of it's colour and enjoyment. You wake up and then the realization hit's you and no doubt will every day from now. You will never hear them again, see them smile or laugh or be able to give them a cuddle or kiss.

Take care everyone and always tell your loved ones that you do love them. Always try and smooth any arguments over. They are trivial in the end.
