Derby hit with a further 9 point deduction and appeal against the original 12 points deduction dismissed...ouch. So they sit with -3 points, 18 points from safety. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...or-breaches-of-efl-rules-over-pride-park-sale
Yeah I just read this. Damn. I thought they had started pretty well and got back into positive numbers. It's going to be a bigger blow psychologically to the players after working hard to give themselves a chance, now it seems all their work is undone.
The Geordies reckon that Mike Ashley is eyeing them up... But the asking price they've stipulated is ludicrous to see him off.
Judging by the breaches you'd think Mike Ashley would be better than Mel Morris. Their value has just plummeted and it'll be like Ken Bates buying Chelsea for £1 and taking on all the debt.
Seems he is injured https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....clash-with-luton-with-knee-injury-3464346?amp
Geez, just seen Henri Lansbury plays in the championship for the scum? Wasn't he going to be massive a few years ago - the next big thing?
What happens if they don't pick up enough points to survive without the points deduction? Do they then get those points docked next season in League 1?
I don’t think so, I think you could easily argue the points deduction was the reason you didn’t get enough points without it, in terms of being demoralised etc. Impossible to prove it didn’t anyway.
Apparently there was a lot of trouble after the qpr v lu*on match on Friday night. A lu*on fan is fighting for his life and despite him being a fan of the team I despise most on this planet I wish him a full recovery. Nobody should go to a game of football and end up fighting for their life due to the actions of others.
King Marco rightly back in pole position. 15 more goals scored than anyone else and the second best defensive record. God like.
If we stay up and Fulham go up, do you think the animosity between us and that turd brain would of cooled off by now? I can still see him getting jeered.
Us of 2000/01 would be a better comparison - https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-division-1/18-november-2000/. The chasing pack this season don't look to have the same quality though. Interestingly, Fulham's stats for that season are quite similar to those for this one at the same point, though Mitrovic is on course to easily beat Saha (I imagine though Fulham's goals in 2000/01 were more evenly shared).
Speaking of that season, I went to Craven Cottage and witnessed the hornet slaughter on boxing day. I remember seeing GT looking down most of the game - we were totally outplayed. Yes we were in the midst of our worst run of form, but it ruined my Xmas On a brighter note - we did then go to Barnsley on a freezing cold Tuesday night and win. Followed by beating Wimbledon 3-1.
Me too. Boy, that was cold. But then there was one time at Grimsby... It never seems to get that cold any more, does it?
Was there a strong icy wind, with it being by the Thames? I think the coldest match I've been to temperature-wise was the Blackburn home game in 2006/07, during which I think it reached -2, but it was calm and I don't remember feeling really cold (and a very rare win helped!).
I’ve mentioned it before here a few times I think but that 5-0 drubbing by Fulham on Boxing Day was one of, if not the, coldest I’ve ever been at a football match and probably the most miserable too. Carlton Palmer coming over to clap the away end at full time didn’t help me either.
Thrilled and delighted to see L*ton's season disintegrating. Let's hope the slump continues, with suspensions, season ending injuries to key players and a hefty points deduction. It's a huge consolation to me, that the concern I went through when they reached the fringe of the playoff places and the terrible prospect of a promotion, will be multiplied a thousand times in the disenchantment and demoralisation of the thuggish shatter fans as their dreams and illusions are gradually destroyed. Our Phil Zink, who's lighting up Florest apparently, has the chance to sink another dagger into the straw boater wearing bustards this week. Go on Phil lad!! Wear your WFC shinpads and stick it to 'em! If Muff get promoted, it would be a shame and a nuisance, yes. Yet a mere trifling annoyance and completely outweighed by the delicious prospect of the scummers plunging to a shock, last game of the season, relegation back to the lower reaches.
I am at the Cov vs Birmingham game tonight. It has been a terrible game of football with very low quality. Somehow Coventry are in the play offs. If we are relegated this season I don't think we would have much trouble gaining promotion again. Additionally I don't think Deeney has touched the ball. However, he did start on the whole Coventry team which was quite entertaining.
For some reason League 1 this season interests me a lot more than the Championship, where for the most part I just see a blur of results and I'm not really interested in how the teams do. Maybe it's because League 1 has a more interesting mix, with a lot of fallen giants among the minnows, ie you've got Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich, Charlton and Bolton among Cheltenham, Morecambe, Accrington and Burton. Then you've got upwardly mobile clubs like Oxford, Plymouth, Wycombe and Lincoln among those that previously spent a long time in non-league, like Cambridge and AFC Wimbledon in their very different ways. EDIT: And thank goodness Sheffield Wednesday came from behind to beat MK Dons, who at one point seemingly from nowhere were three points from an automatic spot!
He did seem to be regaining form a few weeks ago with a goal and a few assists IIRC. However, we saw this sporadically from Deeney during his last couple of years with us which fooled many of us (myself included) into thinking that he was still an important squad member. I think this may be his last season (at least at this level) but I think he'll leave feeling satisfied enough he's spent it at his boyhood club and contributed something there.
Yes - Coventry should have won really - had a good shout for a penalty. Birmingham guy sent off for basically taking out a Coventry attacker !
