It's not about accepting he makes mistakes, it's about understanding his decisions. But as I said, it's a difficut one but the problems arose earlier.
Exactly. Both goalkeepers are extremes of either too aggresive or too passive, and you don't want an extreme unless you are built around it. We aren't.
Well that’s fairly obvious - but any goalkeeper will tell you 95% of saves they make are as a result of the players in front of them making mistakes and not doing what they should be. But it’s also not a GK’s job to compound one mistake by making another. Foster simply hasn’t needed to come racing off his line in recent weeks, even when you consider the mistakes of others. Those players in front make a mistake and that gives Foster a decision to make that I’m sure he’d rather didn’t happen - but that doesn’t absolve him of criticism when he makes the wrong choice. But, as I have said, he was otherwise superb and more than made amends.
Not sure this is a developing trait. He’s given Vardy alone about 6 penalties over the years because of this. Judging the moment to come rushing out has been a real weakness in his game for years.
Had a decent game but once again made a huge error that leads to a goal if Aubameyang controlled a simple ball. Needs replacing.
Who doesn't need replacing? Of the players we have fielded in recent games who has played well enough in all games? For the players that need replacing who is their able replacement in the squad?
Nkoulou, Sierralta, Ngakia, Sissoko, Sarr, Cucho, Dennis, King, Pedro. Plenty of players have been poor this season and more recently, but seeing as this is the Ben Foster thread, my comment focused on...Ben Foster.
A lot of potentially good players there but not quite ready or proved it yet. Sissoko and King to an extent being the exceptions.
AL says Foster was fined for the UFC fighter ridiculousness: The penalty save by Ben Foster from Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang 10 minutes before half-time was exceptional and would have been worthy of being caught on an in-goal GoPro for the goalkeeper’s YouTube channel if the Premier League hadn’t failed to sanction it. Foster, recently fined for giving Liverpool-supporting UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett tickets in a home-fans area for the 5-0 defeat at Vicarage Road last month, let his football do the talking at the Emirates and deserves huge credit.
What the fucck is going on with the names of our players on this forum?!? Come on people, it's really not that hard!
I did wonder if I was going mad, Tufan is one of the easiest names to spell. You don't see me getting Kacku's name wrong.
Apologies if my Dyslexia and overreliance on spellchecker upsets you. I shall slaughter my parents because of the defective gene they passed on...I hope this will assuage your ire.
Ben will be hard to replace, clearly our best keeper by miles and any replacement would be a gamble. Love or hate the YouTube exploits I would lob a one year contract extension at him if it was up to me. I can imagine Foster's agent trying to negotiate such an extension with Gino and being told he will not get it. He will get a five year extension. On a sidenote, I noticed at the Soton game Ben seems have added a new missile kick which I've not really seen before. Launching the ball the length of the pitch while barely going higher than head height. Like Deeney's penalty technique last season, we seem to breed an army of players who can kick the ball REALLY hard if nothing else.
First good performance in about a year and he has people falling over themselves praising him and singing his name. No wonder he feels like he can utterly take the piss.
I think there will be an Arsenal video. The club showed him talking into his GoPro before the game and he'll be gagging to talk about the penalty save.
