It makes a lot more sense now I’ve seen the data map. It’s clear, Foster was blinded in Richalison’s headlights.

At least if your rooted to the line, you're always in with a shout of saving a shot on target rather than being stranded in no mans land!

And at the point Richarlison headed it he'd started to squat down preparing to gather the ball as it bounced through to him. It's not as if Richarlison is not easy to see!

I think others have said this but can you imagine any other goalkeeper in the PL banging on about the opposition like this?

‘It was 5-0 to Liverpool which was a disappointing result, don’t get me wrong but I get to see up close and personal how good they are.’

    Lol. What a loser.

What other footballers have posted a video on their social media talking about how good Liverpool are after just being battered by them? I presume the United players will be doing it in the coming days?

Beat me to it. Crap, weak and unprofessional attitude. You can tell he's past caring, he should be embarrassed at being thumped but he can't seem to shut up about it.

Saw a video the other day of clips of things happening in the tunnel over the years. It showed Gary Neville refusing to acknowledge Scheimchel when he tried to shake his hand playing for City, and Keane and Viera having to be separated and restrained before one of their games.

I know we’re only little old Watford but that’s the difference in players and teams who have a winning mentality and a bit of professional pride.

It’s also embarrassing how he fawns over Firminho because we gifted him a hat trick, yet the guy can’t normally buy a goal.

Have to bear in mind that he's released this video so that it goes viral with Liverpool fans around the world. They'll love another team's player blowing smoke up their arse and it'll get shared loads.

If this conversation is true, then it's hilarious that he doesn't realise that in showing how "professional" Mo Salah is, he's also disclosing how unprofessional he is, just giving over this information for free. Same as when he couldn't wait to tell Adam Armstrong last season how he knew where the penalty he saved was going as there's a giveaway in his run up. Bet the analyst that identified that for him was chuffed that he couldn't wait to run over and tell him!

I've decided to watch this latest video on YouTube and the guy is clearly very dense, more than I assumed previously. Hopefully at LA Galaxy next year.

Does seem a bit random to talk about penalties doesn't it tbh.

Would be more believable if there had been one in the game.

Doubt he'd displace the current former Watford player they've got between the sticks at this point.

It's very much a 'Youtube' thing, in fairness - you can see it across the board - it's largely designed to appeal to children and young people, as in pre-late teens, because in reality that's where enormous amounts of any of their view/click revenues come from and they think it's how they hold their attention.

Also, I don't know if you've ever tried it yourself but when you present to camera, if you speak at a normal register in a manner you would speak to someone in-person standing feet away from you, it comes across as strangely low-energy and subdued, for some reason, so you have to consciously boost yourself to engage viewers and not seem mildly narcoleptic.

That being said, there are plenty of ways to do that that don't make you look like a gurning simpleton/children's television presenter, so it's still as much about Foster buying into the stupid 'Youtube' manner as anything else.

Gone full YouTuber now. Shameless ad half way through the video peddling a ‘totally free’ FIFA pack style app. Of course, it isn’t totally free and has in-app purchases galore. Also, instead of the innocent ‘I’m watching Netflix’ part, he’s namedropping YouTubers half his age. And we now have a weekly ‘hotel give me ketchup so I can praise them’ part.

Interesting bit at the start where he again goes over the Liverpool result. Pretty clear he was going to skip that Liverpool video after all.

So does anyone think he might have made an error for the second goal on Saturday? I’m in 2 minds.

His high line works well when taking balls at the edge of his box like Liverpool where he was regularly positioned to cut out a ball behind the defence to the edge of the box from a Liverpool striker before they could do anything with it (6 or 7 times Liverpool played a ball behind which Bachmann may have been more cautious with) but like in the Championship he doesn't have the risk / reward balance for coming for a cross but getting nothing on it or beaten to it when it's safer to sit on the line and react. His hyper aggresive positioning isn't always a good thing but it has its uses, the same with Bachmann's more passive approach which will give him a better chance in certain situations but hurt him v others. One issue is he's inconsistent which in some respects is worse for a defender to predict than a keeper who will be consistent in their actions.

    We need a balanced keeper.

No Fantasy Premier League chat this time, quietly dropped I suppose. It felt a bit more rushed to me this one, maybe that's just me though.

Bet Troy is gutted he never did the same thing, rather than having to constantly drip feed stories to the media of things that happened 10 years earlier to stay in the public eye.

His last 2 games have seen a much better level from him. He's now providing a decent argument for staying ahead of Bachmann now. Neither are good enough and it's marginal either way but at least Foster put some good balls out from the back.

Apropos of nothing, McCarthy was excellent today, caught absolutely everything then a wonder save at the end.

He was very good yesterday. That Penalty save was brilliant - and shows he is still a competent keeper. No fault for their cheating goal, it should never of stood. He has gotten a lot of stick over the past
few weeks for his demeanor off the pitch but I think yesterday he redeemed himself and let his football do the talking.

Totally agree. I can't understand why he was getting so much grief. He's clearly a better keeper than Bachmann. IMO.

He rightly got stick for his on-field performances as well - but yesterday was a massive improvement. Let’s hope he can keep to it.

Bizarre moment when he charged out for the first disallowed goal. But apart from that he was good, deserves to keep his place after that.

Difficult one as he's expecting Lacazette to shoot first time, so charging out to try and smother is probably the right thing to do. Luckily, Lacazette goes for goal and doesn't see Saka completely free and with an open goal.

My main issue is Sarr gets hussled off the ball too easily, Tayfun doesn't track Lacazette's run - in fact doesn't even try, then he just lets Aubamayang run into the box without tracking him either, forcing Rose to come across but then him and Cathcart just stand off Lacazette allowing him time to chip it.

It was just p*ss poor defending by the supposedly Turkish Pogba...twice.

That’s not really what happened, regardless of what Lacazette was or wasn’t going to do he had no chance of getting the ball before him, so shouldn’t have rushed out. There were two defenders close to Lacazette so Foster was far better served staying on his line so he wasn’t leaving an open goal and letting the defenders deal with it. Lacazette probably doesn’t even see foster until he swivels found and then sees him miles off his line.

As it was him rushing out inadvertently saved us, but only through luck and not judgement.

No sorry. Coming out forced Lacazette into that decision. Had Tayfun tracked Lacazette's run it wouldn't have drawn Foster out, had he tracked Aubamayang as well.

There were two defenders on Lacazette so I don’t see how he’s getting a shot off there, running side on to the goal. Foster rushing out just gave him the extra option to loop it over him so his teammates could knock it into an empty goal.

Unless Lacazette has eyes in the back of his head, he doesn't know where Rose is, his touch was caused by Foster advancing.

As I said it's a difficult one, but this problem was created long before that. Sarr losing the ball so easily and Tayfun letting 2 runners go...that's where the real problem was.

It’s only a difficult one when you can’t accept that Ben Foster makes mistakes…

Whereas Bachmann has a horrible trait for being glued to his line, Foster seems to be developing the opposite trait and wants to dash off his line when he should stay put.

But all-in-all, he played fantastically well and more than made up for his mistake anyway.
