First goal was helpless as per nature of it. Can't come for it, would be very fortunate to get anywhere near it anyway. For the second, although he did play a part in it would say that wasn't predominantly on him. Looked a reasonable ball to come claim except Richarlison blindsided the defence and made a fantastic diving header to get there. More importantly his passing was noticeably better. Not great but didn't look a Sunday League keeper distributing it at least.
Surely he could see that the ball was going to reach Richarlison and he had no chance of getting there though? Would have been better off staying in his goal and making an attempt at saving it.
He saw Richarlison's run and came out to close him down, I think he was expecting a touch and hit - I admit I was...seems he caught us both out with the header.
It looked like Foster was running behind Richarlison though as if he expected him to disappear into thin air!
Is this b*ll piece another YouTube dude then? Who is he? Assume he's Foster's bum chum in some way? I guess he's doing a bit of fishing here, but meh.
Not a goalkeeping expert, but I'd have thought the done thing would be to wait and then close down the possible shot, rather than charge out just in case the striker heads towards goal? Obviously it's not fully his fault though as the defending gave him a decision to make, and his kicking was better than it has been
So last weekend Foster's scouse mate called us a **** club and hopes we get relegated, then today one of his YouTube mates is having a pop at Watford fans on Twitter. Ben is going out with a bang this season, can't wait to see what happens next week. Maybe he'll get that annoying guy and his weird dad to burn a Watford shirt before the Southampton game?
I don’t think we can blame Foster for some random guy making a joke tweet about the result and linking it to the vblogs? The tweet was sent at 5.08 btw.. Don’t think we can point the finger at Ben for what someone he may know writes straight after the game .
I'm not necessarily blaming Foster for what individuals do but his new social media 'crowd' don't mind sticking the boot in on his current employers.
Think it's pretty fair to say that if a header from past the penalty spot crosses the line at shin height slap bang in the middle of the goal, the keeper hasn't got their positioning right.
Pretty sure this guy is a former guest of Foster's at some of our games, although this is a lot less offensive than some Scouse gob***** actively taking the piss out of us
He was at the Norwich game sitting with the Watford fans despite supporting neither side. Gee, I wonder how he got a ticket. I guess TheCyclingGK has the whole YouTuber community behind him now. These ‘on camera’ YouTubers are just the ******* worst of humanity. Just the worst.
So another Foster f**k up then. So I now make that 4 clear errors from him in 5 games. Norwich caught in no mans land for their goal, started to come out, stayed where he was allowing Pukki all the space and time in the world to pick his spot. Newcastle the ball went straight through him. Leeds he flapped at a corner, got nowhere near it. Everton he came for the cross got nowhere near it giving Richarlison all the space in the world to head into an empty net. Stays on his line and he heads the ball straight at him (may still have gone in going by his current form). Bachmann has every right to feel aggrieved to not be in the side! However, i'm not convinced he's the answer either! New keeper in January is as important as adding a couple of defenders!! One thing is for sure, Foster needs to f**k off and never play for us again. He's made it end fairly sour by clearly not showing any interest in his football and more bothered about his You Tube channel.
The bloke only did that as he got kicked out and shown up I suspect. Looked like Richarlison made a run that caught everyone out including Foster who yes had come to collect the free kick and gout himself in a tricky position I agree.
It's an indictment on his awareness if nothing else, because as you said, you can clearly see him coming and planting himself, arms cupped, to gently catch the ball at the terminus of its flight, as he expects. He has no idea, or at least does not act as though he does, that Richarlison may challenge for it, but it's not like he was wearing an invisibility cloak up to the point of contact - he was always there.
What was weird was that he thrashed his arms at Cathcart when the ball hit the net - now thats fair enough. Cathcart was nowhere near where he should have been and had gone walkabout. But Foster's action in berating Cathcart shows he either expected Cathcart to cut it out or he was angry at his positioning....so why come for the ball as if he could just catch it? Cathcart is to blame for Richarlison even getting a chance. But Foster was to blame for it being a goal. If I was Cathcart, I'd have just said 'sorry, my mist.....wait, why are you stood there Ben?'
My response "Because that's your man, you're supposed to be marking him, so if you're not going to mark him, I'll have to"
It’s not a GK’s job to mark players in any situation. If Foster wanted to come and claim the ball he had to make an extra effort to get in front of Richarlison - standing behind him and shaping yourself to take a simple catch as if Richarlison was just going to disappear was very poor. Both made big mistakes - but Cathcart didn’t make it a certain goal by wandering off. Foster did however.
Hmmm... a free header 8 yards out, unmarked with pace on the ball, so the slightest touch can deviate the ball considerably. I'll concede Bachmann won't concede that goal as he gets dizzy and a nosebleed if he moves an inch off his goal line. I realise you hate Foster because he has a YT channel and that's your perogative, but are you really so bitter that you can't enjoy the victory and performance for a weekend at least? Give yourself the weekend off and enjoy it.
F*ck sake, just drop the whole ‘you hate Foster’ belief. I’ve made it clear on this thread that I don’t hate the bloke. He’s a decent enough person and I’ve said as much as you well know. But if he makes a mistake that costs us a goal then I will comment on it on the ‘Ben Foster’ thread. Doesn’t mean I enjoyed yesterday any less. I find it amusing that you keep peddling this line about me hating Foster - yet you are obsessed with Bachmann not coming off his line. The cold facts are that Foster has made more mistakes leading to goals this season than Bachmann has. Nothing to do with ‘hating’ anyone or YouTube channels or anything to do with bitterness. The thread for enjoyment of yesterday etc is on the relevant threads elsewhere and I have contributed to those to show how much I enjoyed it. This is a thread for chatting about Ben Foster - if you don’t like his mistake being highlighted, I’d suggest not reading the thread specifically about him.
Shall I look back on the Bachmann thread and see your vociferous condemnation for the goal he conceded at Bournemouth last season? His indecision at Spurs where the ball bounced 3 yards out leading to a goal? Being rooted to his line against Wolves leading to Sierralta scoring an own goal at waist height 3 yards out at the back post? Will I find any comments from you because those mistakes cost goals? If so, I'll apologise. If not, I'll call out your inconsistency.
I couldn’t care less about apologies etc. I didn’t even comment on Foster’s mistake against Newcastle at the time! I’ve said at length that I don’t think Bachmann is the long-term answer either. And he has made errors this season. But Foster is making them weekly at present - and doesn’t have a future at the club beyond this season. He’s not going to improve. Bachmann does have a future at the club beyond this season most likely and also has the scope to improve. It’s my belief that he should be reinstated to the starting lineup as he’s currently the lesser of the 2 evils so to speak. Nothing about hating either player. Nothing about YouTube. Nothing about not enjoying yesterday. Simple as that.
Will you guys just STOP!!! You cannot get off his back even when he has done nothing even remotely wrong Ben Foster may be past his best, but he is still the best keeper we have at Watford and plenty of other teams would be glad to have him. Just give it a rest guys it's getting boring
Past his best? Past his best!? How dare you! Listen here buster, if you don't start supporting our brave boys in yellow I'm gonna get really cheesed off Big Ben is in his prime and only getting better, and if you disagree then nurr nurr
Bachmann could at least be the answer back in the Championship (if Dahlberg isn't deemed ready for a team chasing promotion), Foster probably isn't even good enough for that now and almost certainly wouldn't be next season
