But a big downside for our educated fanbase is the glaring omission of the indefinite article in his reference to Hornet. Tut tut Tufan. Will have to reserve judgement.
He's keen at least. Will our man from Turkey gobble up his goal chances? If it goes badly will he be finished by Boxing Day?
Maybe Tufan has been brought in as a right back allowing Gosling to take his rightful place in midfield.
I don't know where Tufan is in the world but I can't help but think that him signing and the below are linked...
Hopefully this is a Turkish media special! He was named in the squad (probably just in case), would seem odd for him to be taken out of the squad not because of the Premier League announcement, but because of his weight?
I think he is out of the squad because if he joined the squad he'd have to quarantine for 10 days following his return so he'd miss a match and be unable to maintain his fitness during that time anyway (at a quarantine hotel.) I read today that he went to Italy to train in Udine so that he can arrive without a need to spend 10 days in a quarantine hotel.
I'm sure he's not in terrible shape, certainly not as bad as Rose was. Hopefully just a few pounds off where the club would like him to be. This is a picture of him in pre-season training a few weeks ago, so I think he'll be fine after a couple of weeks with the fitness staff.
Ozan has now met up with the Turkish squad as they have two away games coming up. So he avoids quarantine issues but it's a shame he's going to miss next week working with the team.
From what I can cobble together from Twitter he was with Udinese to avoid having to quarantine in a hotel here, then arrived in England on Sunday or Monday just gone. So he's had a few days with us at least, probably long enough for Xisco to decide he's crap.
Our friends in the Turkish media are reporting that Tufan's work permit application has been rejected and he'll return to Fenerbahce. Almost certainly nonsense and has probably come about because they haven't seen him in a Watford shirt yet because of him being in Italy to get around quarantine.
@reids is the man to do the calculations but by my quick look Tufan has made enough international appearances and appearances in the Turkish league to get to the required number of points for a WP. He might even qualify based on recent international caps alone.
Not always, often you'll get announcements saying subject to medical or subject to international clearance, something like that. Nothing like that in our Tufan announcement but he qualifies easily because Turkey are a top 50 ranked nation and he's played over 70% of their games in the last year. I'm going off this table but someone correct me if I'm using the wrong info!
It is nonsense. A Turkish journalist DM’d me saying the guy saying it made it up. And I quote “We have very bad and liar media.”
