Classic and I mean classic Leventhal. He's seen the rumour about Panzo, thrown it in at the end of his 'update' here and then covered his back by saying actually we might stick with what we've got. Perfection.
He could have let us dream. Nobody is on the edge of their seat waiting for Quina and Navarro to find a new club. I reckon Giaretta is cookin' uppa something.
Going into the season with only four centre backs is asking for trouble. Troost-Ekong will be away at AFCON and isn't that good and Cathcart and Kabasele are becoming injury prone and also aren't that good. What are we thinking?
This is genuinely amazing - I'm one of the least Leventhal-understanding leaning posters on here, but honestly just why ******* say that last sentence? It's not providing any information whatsoever, and in the way it's worded and sentiment it's expressing is in fact tacitly admitting that he has no information/privileged insight on the subject at all. Madness.
What the **** do we do if when WTE is away at AFCON, Cathcart and Kabasele pick up injuries? It's gonna be some U23 kid isn't it
I just spent the long weekend in a house that also contained a seasoned Spurs fan who, when the subject of prospective-Spurs-leavers was broached, was very down on CCV indeed - said he had not improved at all since his early promise as a teen. That being said, I highly doubt this person watched a single Muff game last season, and has often been somewhat prone to the 'big(ish) club fan' bias of not really knowing anything at all about any player involved with a team smaller than theirs coupled with something of an inability to appropriately judge them through any prism other than that of their own club's requirements. Also, as others have said, not bringing in another centre back of any shape or description in before the deadline would be, in one of my favourite sayings, profligacy of the absolute highest order. The fact that he's a former double Scummer would have to be rendered neither here nor there.
*Most Leventhal-understanding leaning (I phrased it one way, then deleted it and rephrased it in the other, but managed not to delete one of the key words from the original phrasing )
Nah. TVOR will have us all believing we can have a back-four of Fletcher, Sarr, Rob Elliott and Kwadwo Baah by January. No fear.
I think our incoming business is done in all honesty. The club dicing with PL survival again by ignoring defensive depth. I’d be frustrated if it wasn’t a path we have been down every year nearly.
Yep, totally expected. Although I didn't think they'd get rid of Pollock. Even if he's not ready he's still cover, not replacing him is madness.
£9m on Louza who appears 6th or 7th choice midfielder but not a penny on CBs. Cathcart ambling around at RB. They never learn.
Reckon we wait until January to get a defender in? The games WTE definitely won't be around for aren't until January aren't they?
We’d have to act pretty quickly in January though and then integrate a player straight into the team. I think it’s the case that AFCON doesn’t actually encompass that many PL games. I think they are just hoping to scrape by. Madness if it hits 11pm and that’s the scenario we are looking at.
Even for a club where nothing is happening, there’s deathly silence from the club or any kind of journo’s regarding us today. SSN haven’t said our name once all day and even Leventhal is quieter than usual for a Deadline Day.
The thing is it's not even 'one injury to the defence and we're in trouble', it's 'one injury to one specific defender and we're ****ed' - absolutely crazy to be choosing to rely on that, if indeed we are. Let's hope this comment is suddenly rendered moot at some point in the next four hours.
