The balloons on Transfer Centre have just kept saying the same thing for 24 hours now. "The thing is, he can sign for Madrid on a free in the summer".
Sissoko said that he was in talks with Watford for weeks before signing and nobody had any wind of it until a few hours before confirmation. Dennis wasn't even on the radar. I'm hoping we're just keeping everything hush-hush until the last minute.
We don’t need a RB? Unless my eyes have been deceiving me, we have played Craig Cathcart there for the opening 3 games and given minutes to Ngakia who clearly isn’t PL level yet.
I suddenly feel bad for Navarro despite what I posted earlier! I know he was paid very well for doing nothing but on a human level can you imagine being at a club for so long when you're not wanted? On top of that we've clearly been trying to shift him all summer and nobody else wants him. Must be pretty soul destroying. Hopefully he finds a club in Spain and gets back to playing football.
So we're going into the rest of the season with 4 centre backs and Gosling more than likely having to be an option from the bench in some games. Duxbury wasn't lying about creating a competitive squad.
I'm hearing we may or may not be signing further players, but whatever happens its getting to the exciting part of the window
I am with you on the centre backs, but by my reckoning Gosling is 7th choice. If he gets game time, we are having a pretty serious injury crisis. We have lots of midfielders - time will tell if Louza / Tufan are good enough.
Chabs & Quina going leaves us with 7 specialist CMs. In theory that should be enough, but I'm not sure that Clevs, Gosling & Louza are really good enough to be starting matches.
Louza cost the majority of our transfer budget. They must have some belief he can contribute. However much Gino and Mogi profit from their seedy little schemes, I would like to think they wouldn't gamble the £100m relegation would cost on it.
He's a young guy with talent, and I would like to think he will go on to become a quality player. From what I've seen of him so far though, he doesn't quite look ready for the Prem. just yet, other than as a bench option. I would worry if he was starting games, as he did at Brighton.
I would as well, but you would hope he is going to be ready sooner rather than later. He has been at Nantes since he was 7. I suspect there is a significant matter of him getting used to a new club and country. Still it does seem odd we put so many eggs in one basket.
Ffs. We’re allergic to giving youngsters a chance. If I was Ngakia and we sign Yedlin I’d kick up a s*** storm. Wasting his time.
