Seen some murmurs that Troy may be on his way, while there's a long way between us finally seeing sense by wanting him out and clubs actually stumping up the money to pay his wages, it would make sense of the Fletcher deal
One of the biggest games the Portugeezers they play tomorrow tomorrow will play, I expect they'll be going full throttle
Where would he go though? The article says he may well be our 6th choice #9. He's due £3.5 million from us whether he plays or not. I honestly can't see m/any Championship clubs wanting him even if we pay his wages. Who would want to try to manage him?? I think Scotland would suit him but I guess that might interfere with his other jobs.
Well that's the biggest stumbling block! Maybe Brum, a very different striker to Gray of course, but since it looks like Gray might be off to QPR, maybe they might take homeboy Deeney on loan while stumping up a portion of his wages?
Don’t really think anybody can predict results based on the performance so far this year Game 1 - we looked magnificent Game 2 - we looked **** Yesterday (didn’t see it), sounds like we were average but did enough if Kucka is fit and we play with the intensity of the first game , we could nick a point or on a good day even win. If we start with the Brighton line up and the same sloppy lack lustre performance we will be 4-0 down by half time. im going for Spurs 1 (Kane) Watford 2 (Dennis, cucho) I also predict Deeney won’t feature. reason for the potentially insane prediction , I think we have signed a lot of players who have something to prove and know they need to fight for positions (the only really nailed on starts are probably Sarr and Bachman) I think they will be keen to impress against Spurs
I'm also fully in awe of how Leventhal gets absolute pelters daily on here for being a fraud, and yet simultaneously the articles on this website can be described as 'apparently ITK'.
Well let's see what happens with Deeney. Right now he's in danger of not making the 25 man squad and rightly so. He offers nothing. I've read articles on Watford Opinions that have enhanced my knowledge and understanding of what's going on at the club. As a fan I really appreciate that. The main thing Leventhal does is confirm things we already assume to be the case. He has remained silent on this new Deeney situation, either cos he's in the dark or cos he doesnt want to ruffle any feathers. Deeney being omitted from the Palace squad is a major event. Xisco said he was fit but being rested, after less than 30 minutes of competitive football. I'm not sure he was even at the vic. Xisco also refused to confirm Deeney would be involved v Spurs. At Brighton he was the 6th choice attacking player after Sema, Dennis, Sarr, Cucho and King and that's with JP injured and Fletcher scoring the same number of goals from open play in 1 game against PL opposition that Troy managed in 19 in the champo. It will be interesting to see how he reacts. I thought he'd be happy to get his £3.5 million this season and move on next summer but maybe he can't handle having a peripheral role. He is so dramatically inferior to our main strikers that he can't possibly demand more minutes at the expense of those players. He's yesterday's man. I'd like to know what's going in with this situation unfortunately the Athletic's Watford PR man is either clueless or unwilling to do his job as a journalist. If Adam Leventhal wants to write informative ITK articles about Watford, I'd be the first to congratulate him. Might be a long wait though........
My tickets for Sunday are in the home end (long story). Last time I saw Watford at Spurs in the home end we won 5-1 so am insanely confident for this one
Cannot wait for Deeney to go.. Then come back and knock in a couple against us. Would be quite funny to see the reaction. Guess people wouldn't sing his name like they did when Henderson scored for Sheffield United a few years back!
I guess you'll just have to pretend to clap and cheer Harry Kane having probably called him all sorts in previous weeks.
How has the American hobby blogger enhanced your knowledge and understanding? The site and the articles are clearly labelled as opinion pieces. I can't see how it holds any more weight than a long post on here.
I can assure you that viewing that game from the away end was far more enjoyable than whatever you experienced.
Is this the same Harry Kane that is about to earn 400k per week? Shurely shome mishtake Ed? The Harry Kane of last week wanted to win trophies and wouldn't be persuaded by huge wads of cash. I'm confused!
Has it enhanced your knowledge and understanding of what's going on at the club if it's an opinion piece based on nothing more than what someone reckons? There's a line between reading something as insight and reading it as reinforcement of a view one already holds, or as validation because it's what someone hopes to be the case.
Tottenham are a bit of a counter attacking team so will be interesting if we can sit in with a low block and frustrate them and look to hit them on the counter ourselves. Hopefully Xisco picks Sierralta and Rose for this one. I would be tempted to play Dennis on the left and King through the middle.
That's true, however I find his articles very insightful and his perspective illuminating. He seems to be able to cut through the noise and see a situation for how it really is. Bear in mind this is a club where half the fanbase were happy for Deeney to start against Villa with some even calling for a return to the 442 disaster that nearly cost us promotion last year. If Deeney was our #9 we'd be on 0 points and nailed on for relegation right now. Instead we have a hope in hell. I got slaughtered by some of the ignorati on here (Burnsy in particular) for criticising Deeney and saying he should leave last summer. He went on to score 1 goal from open play in 19 games and we only got promoted cos he got injured. Thats how wrong the ignorati were. Yet some Watford fans are still drinking the Troy Deeney kool aid. For me personally it was good to read an articulate expression of why a 33 year old non goalscoring striker is surplus to requirements as a lot of Watford fans still dont seem to understand why a 33 year non goalscoring #9 would guarantee relegation from the premier league.
Let's face it 'what someone reckons' depends entirely on who is doing the reckoning. I like this guys reckoning. If he has no insider knowledge then the way he joins the dots without being ITK is impressive. For example I'm usually right about Watford and Covid but clueless on Crypto and House prices. So what I reckon on Watford and Covid is a lot more valid than my dodgy views on Crypto and House Prices.
Is that the guy who's started a podcast recently? Who is selling the most god awful t-shirts in existence with some clipart footballer and his YouTube name all over it? For £40 each? And made a bright green one and called it the 'Scott Tingley Edition'? These people count on fans being thick enough to buy this crap.
I’ve made a point of not replying to you over the past few months for both our sakes. But you wilfully have lied here about me. I never ever questioned whether Deeney should move on. I agreed with you. It was all your assumptions of what happens behind the scenes with Deeney that I took exception to and you endlessly going on about his prison time etc. As you were.
That's fine, and I'm not even criticising the article Watford Opinions writes, but I am also absolutely sure that even he himself would not make a single claim towards any kind of insider knowledge or, indeed, 'ITK' status. He literally attributes and links every rumour or piece of news he is discussing directly in the body of the article; as clear as day. I honestly don't quite understand how these articles have 'enhanced your knowledge and understanding of what's going on at the club'. He is not doing, or saying, anything that hasn't been done or said on here day in, day out - the articles are even a similar length to a lot of the more considered posts in these parts. It's not even a matter of 'ITK' or not - that concept doesn't even come into discussing what he's producing. You're simply saying that you like his output, and agree with his analysis - however rudimentary that is, correct or not, (and again, I'm not criticising the site) it's not the deepest dive that's ever been made into the workings of Watford FC:
I see Deeney is front and centre of the club's third kit sale material and images. Stranger things have happened but that doesn't seem like a move they'd make if the plan was to shuffle him out by the end of the month.
You get more 'inside information' from here and other Watford social media groups on other platforms than any website/journalist IMO.
Richarlison modeled our 18/19 kid (the majestic striped one), and he was soon off, I don't know if we necessarily planned to sell him then, but clearly we knew he wasn't staying long-term
That brought back memories. I was in the away end for that hammering of Spurs on 11 May 1985. Was still chuckling at the Danny Thomas own goal 2 days later as we then proceeded to swarm all over Atkinson's Man U by 5-1 too. And on the Friday night of that same week we took a 2-0 half time lead at Anfield, had it at 3-3 late on (Rush and Dalglish had scored) before Ian Rush presumably got his beak on one for a late winner 3-4. What a week. Top 6? B******s! Quote from Big Ron on the dismantling of his Reds that night: "Once Watford went in front it fired them up. They were after our scalps." Ironic that given the comb over hairstyle he manfully carried throughout his football career. For the younger element on the forum here's a pic of Ron in his pomp with fellow Bald Eagle the late Jim Smith. Parental Guidance required on this for the hair, gut and short shorts combo...eeewwwww!!!
I'd be very surprised if Troy leaves the club as no one in their right mind would sign him. But if he creates yet another confrontation with yet another Watford manager surely this time Scott and Gino will back their manager? It would be insane to bet our premier league survival on the self-interested meglomania of a burned out, punch drunk 33 year old who has scored 6 open play goals in 2.5 years. By far the best option for WFC would be to pay him off and tell him to fook off so we can turn over the page and start afresh.
