This is the go-to for some folks in the absence of information. Ignore it until you actually see the player move.
Istanbul is one of the best cities I’ve ever been to, if he’s excited about the Intu Centre and Columbia Press after living there there is something wrong with the boy.
Surely the comments of lots of Turkish fans who have seen him over the years is a pretty good source of information? He may be slim and ready to go now of course - but I doubt the stories of his weight issues are fabricated.
Deeney and Tufan at an all you can eat buffet - they could have a competition, each starting at the opposite end of the table!
Just like the stories of all our fans are accurate? How long have various factions of us been arguing over Deeney, assorted managers, Capoue over the years, pick one of several dozen.... Fans are passionate - hence the name fans. That doesn't make everything that they type relevant, rational or right. It wasn't hard to find people slating Sarr last season after a few un-Sarr-like matches. The bloke might be fat. He might be thick but fit. It might not matter in either case. There's a detailed post on here from a Fenerbahce fan who says the bloke has great stamina and works hard - who is right? Okaka when he was here was solid muscle, but he was injury prone and had no stamina. What I've seen is that people whose first reaction tends to be negative often start out with statements like a player is fat. That doesn't mean the player isn't in fact fat, but I personally discount it. Watch him play a few matches before worrying about what some angry *&^%er in Turkey says in the internet.
Love seeing a fat ******* in midfield. No way it should be possible in the professional game but some players are able to pull it off. Fuucking brilliant.
I'd offer a snappy response but I'm finishing my third pie and am about to start in on this burger.....
How is anyone ‘worried’? All I’ve seen are some attempts at humour about it. Deeney self-admittedly has been fat. So if he left for a new club, there would be plenty of Watford fans rightly stating in their opinions to fans of his new club that he struggles with his weight. And I’d expect them to discuss that between themselves! Fenerbahce fined Ozan Tufan last season for being overweight…they wouldn’t have done that because it was just their ‘opinion’- and we are being told he struggles with his weight by those who have watched him far more than us. So it’s fair that when discussing him as a new signing that those points are discussed wouldn’t you agree? No one is negative about the signing. Far from it. We are just talking between ourselves about what we have been told about him! Some light-hearted, some serious!
No particular reason, really. I guess I got used to it being a non-native English speaker and seeing a lot of football fans use it
Well yes, that's the sad truth. If he were a bit more determined professional, he'd have quite a different career, positively. On the other hand, Fenerbahce fans are a bit bitter about him leaving. He said goodbye to Fenerbahce fans on his twitter account today and he makes it sound like he's leaving for good. Whatever the clause in the buy option is, he must think it'll be triggered quite easily and make the move permanent. Fenerbahce fans are mostly bitter not because he contributed greatly to the team but because they believe Tufan hasn't at all returned all the investment the club has put in him for all these years. I remember another Fenerbahce player making a move to PL years ago, that was Tuncay Sanli. At that time, he was one of the best players in the Turkish league in terms of his physical strenght and stamina but in the PL he was deemed insufficient in that regard. Well, Tufan isn't exactly one of the strongest players in the Turkish league already so... Bonus fun fact: His last name Tufan is pronounced quite similar to "Too-Fun". Your captain, up and away!
Yeah, maybe my memory is playing tricks but all i can really recall of him playing for us is the audfible gasp at his girth from the Rookery when he was brought on as a sub on his debut.
It seems to be down to the new Dof whose name I cant spell, is it Gerrialta? Anyway, seems to know what he is doing and I think covid has forced prices down, add to that that sadly a lot of foreign teams are in a far worse financial place than us at the moment.
