In fairness Dennis has played the equivalent of 11 full matches in the Champion's League, getting 3 goals and 2 assists in total. That's an alright amount of high level experience, and a respectable record in that time. It's not quite as much top level experience as the other two players, but it's certainly something. As well as the 2 goals at the Bernabeu, he had an assist at home to Real Madrid, and 1 assist and 1 goal in 2 games against Zenit St Petersburg. He's also played equivalent to 3.5 games in CL Qualifying, with 2 goals vs LASK and Basaksehir. Plus 5 games in the Europa League, including 1 goal vs Man Utd 18 months ago, and 1 assist vs RB Salzburg. Here's Dennis' goal vs Man Utd: Here's his goal away at Zenit 9 months ago:
We're going to try and kill teams with pace and I'm all for it. This guy might have the football ability of Andre Gray but at least it sounds like he's rapid.
He's fat. Look at him. needs to drop at least 2 stone. Probably got picked because he eats with Troy and chugs Bailey's with Success. I felt like we needed to get all the usual moans on the table. No sense going half way with it.
Never scored more than seven league goals in a season in a second rate league. Ladies and gentleman, we have our striker.
Expires next season. I thought it expires this summer, but transfermarkt we’re showing the loan contract. Once I realized my mistake I corrected it, in another post to next summer.
Good to see with this guy and Fletch we have strengthened the back up to Gray & Deeney should either of them get injured.
On the positive side, Dennis and Fletcher looks like an upgrade on Perica and Success. Now we just need to upgrade Deeney and Gray too and we'll be sitting pretty.
Just about to post that. Exciting times. It's easy being critical of the signings we're making, however, I think collectively they have been solid. It just depend on who else we bring in, but Louza and Rose will be decent first team additions, with Fletcher and Dennis being good options who could well step up and be very good players if they reach their potential. Of course I hope we sign a couple of player who are more likely to be hits, and we've had enough Penaranda, Success, Oulare types, but this guy has some pedigree and could turn into something special if he's handled correctly and sorts his head out.
Got to keep the catering staff busy when Troy finally departs (admittedly Rose may be a decent replacement in that regard).
This is what I'm also hearing. We are happy with the group but won't rule out making a move if the rigjt frsl comes up.
So I suspect our striking options will be:- Troy Deeney, Andre Gray, Cucho Hernandez, Ashley Fletcher, Emmanuel Dennis and one other?? I don't expect to see Perica or Success part of things next season, but having 6 central strikers is going to be a little top heavy. If we do bring in one more, then either Cucho is not coming or Gray is going.
I don't see him as a central striker, even though he was used as one last season. I don't believe he will be used as one in the Premier League. I'm hoping we sign another left winger, and we can use Pedro and Sema as options to rotate with. I think Baar could be a wild card, although it wouldn't surprise me if we loaned him out.
I don’t know anything about him. Going off Club Bruges fans and other fans that have “apparently watched him” though, they all seem to be saying the same thing. It’s his attitude that stinks. Not his ability. Ability, talent, rapid pace and potential, he has that in spades according to most. When actually trying, he is incredible based on what others are saying. Problem is, he only tries when he wants to apparently. All saying if he can sort his attitude out, then we will have one hell of a player for £3.4mil. That’s why Gino has done it. That’s a very cheap risk. Could be sold for £15mil+ if he sorts his attitude out, and scores goals. If he doesn’t, we send him out on loan for the last 4 years of his contract if no-one buys him. Gino obviously sees Xisco as the man to help him sort his attitude. The encouraging thing for me is that those that have seen him play are actually saying he has the ability. So we know deep down there is a very good player there. We just need to hope that we’re the club that give him that fresh start he needs. If we are, then Gino has done it again.
