There won’t be anymore strikers now without a number of them leaving first surely! It’s long past time to start offloading. Success, Perica, Deeney, Gray, Fletcher, Joao Pedro and now this bloke. 7 strikers for likely one starting berth and 2 for the bench. We are well over-subscribed. Get 3-4 of Perica/Success/Deeney/Gray out the door and I guess we’ll look for another.
I wish I was making this up: A guy I met in Vietnam from Cologne seven years ago has gone to great lengths to track me down purely to message me how **** this guy is.
Wow! We do sign some dodgy players. No idea about this player, but if the reference from Koln is anything to go by, he is another time waster. Did well in Belguim, but that is English league One level at best. Success and Dennis. All comedians working in tandem. Was Dennis on a free transfer? It seems that we are filling in the gaps with mud not cement. In the end, it will fail. We can at least say that the club are keeping us interested.
The social media dribblers are out in force as usual. "omfg wot a signin! wel dun gino!" they shout, ignoring the key facts that they've never seen him play and that he's obviously sh*te.
Yeah you would think. Guessing the 4 this season will be Pedro, Dennis, Fletcher and Deeney. Gino will look at that and believe it’s enough. Only way we potentially sign another ST is if we play Pedro LW, and don’t sign a LW.
Not got a great goal output throughout his career, particularly this season, but was linked with big money moves last summer and famously scored twice for Bruges against Real Madrid at the Bernebeu. He's meant to be a bit high maintenance (fell out with the manager at Bruges because someone was sat in his seat on the coach) but if we can get a tune out of him, there's a LOT of potential upside. Was linked with a 35m move to Arsenal and others last summer. He's quite versatile so I wonder where we're going to play him.
Odd that we're announcing this before personal terms are agreed. Is this common practice? I would say it isn't.
Nah I think he had a year left. The 2021 transfermarkt expiry you're seeing is his loan deal with Koln
No problem with the vast majority of this - and Belgium’s top league isn’t a great standard. But it’s far better than League One. And there are decent players there in places - enough to not write off anyone who comes from there as dross.
Only two scenarios here. He either continues to be an absolute **** OR working under the happiest coach in league and getting the chance to play in the Premier League is the making of him and he shows his talent. Or special option 3, his attitude is fine but he's just absolute **** at football. Whatever happens Mogi gets his payday so that's alright.
Edit: my mistake, next summer. So he has 12 months left. So fee would be minimal is my guess. Probably no more than £5mil.
To be fair, he has played in the Ukraine Premier League so he must be good. Let’s hope he doesn’t blow his obvious talent on baileys and hookers
This remains me a lot of the Mbaye Niang deal. A player with a lot of potential and hype but considerable attitude problems. At some point in his career, someone will get a tune out of him (as we saw with Niang at Rennes). Hopefully it's with us. Seems like a risk well worth taking.
I’m just concerned that we again seem to be putting Gino’s personal business interests with a renowned dodgy agent above the critical needs of the football club. Would he rather take a punt that may or may not work out just because it benefits his mate, over investing a bit more money and perhaps working a bit harder to find a more assured target? Maybe I’m doing him a disservice saying that - but it’s a very fair assumption given the amount of times it’s happened. The Mythical Pozzo Model seems to have been whittled down to calling his Belgian pal and seeing what’s on his forecourt.
Of course Bayat could well be an intermediary, but is there any evidence to suggest that he is? Bayat isn't really associated with Bruges (as opposed to a number of other Belgian sides) and he isn't Dennis' agent
I’m not accepting a single bad word said about him anymore. FIFA says he’s a speedster and we all know there is no other trait more important than that. We’re winning the Prem.
Go through the thread and look at the links. Bayat is his agent according to official Belgian FA paperwork dated last year.
I reckon he’ll be a good signing. I’ve never seen or heard of him. But I’ve learnt that you take the opposite view to the majority of Watford fans, you’re much more likely to be correct.
