Its also embarrassing Hive Live going on about Gray's was a difficult finish. It hit him and went in.

They didn't. Emma suggested that and Gifton laughed and said it just hit him but gave him credit for getting in the right area.

A surprisingly competent performance given that, save four at best, none of that starting line-up should be starting for us next season (and some shouldn't even be on the bench). Thought when I saw the team sheet Swansea would win comfortably, but we looked comfortable in possession and although very poor in the final third up until Gray's goal we created some good chances.

Amusing that three of our most reviled players played a vital part in the win, and that Swansea were beaten comfortably by our B team - doesn't bode very well for their confidence or chances in the play-offs. Nice to finish the season on a high with some impressive stats (91 points, 19 home wins, 30 goals conceded, club record number of clean sheets is it?) however meaningless this fixture was.

Yes but if you’d read the whole thread you’d have seen the club have set off some pyrotechnics! What the hell are they thinking of!?

    Well played to them all.
Swansea will probably now win the play offs to continue the wild and wacky world of the division.
    Come on Barnsley!

Blimey Xisco is even more of an inspirational Head Coach than even I imagined for getting a win out of that line-up, and goals from our two much maligned forwards.

Wow. What a great end to a terrific season. We hardly ever win our final match.

    That’s 9 straight home wins.

I remember Duxbury saying during the first lockdown that teams like Watford will lose all their home advantage if football were to resume again behind closed doors.

So cue our most successive ever season at the Vic!

    Haha.

Today was our 23rd clean sheet of the campaign.

And if I’ve added then up right, Success today became our 18th different scorer of the season.

    Xisco Muñoz....26 matches, 18 wins, 3 draws, 5 loses.

He was brought in to convert all those annoying Ivic draws into wins, and boy did he succeed!

Not too much to complain about there - job done, key players rested, good home and defensive records in tact, plus keeping the record of no team having done the double over us. The match mostly reinforced what we already knew.

I'd of course get rid of and replace all three of Deeney, Success and Gray, but I'd get rid of them in that order. Gray still gets in the right places at the right time, even if he's an atrocious "footballer" everywhere else.

I've mentioned before that Success gets a lot of stick on here, but he'd still be an alright Championship level player. Someone like Blackburn or Cardiff might accept him in part-exchange to knock £1mil off the fee for Armstrong or Moore.

Troy lost the ball with every touch he had.

Zinckernagel - loan to Udinese?! Cash in?
Lazaar - waiting until the final day to show he can play football. Too little too late though.
Sanchez shouldn't even be a bench option next season. Not sure about Gosling either.
Navarro remains a sorry excuse for a footballer. La Liga 2 beckons.
JP - has spent the last few months playing like a deflated balloon.

Sema will be fine to have on the bench next season, but give him a rest now for pete's sake!

Worrying though that Chalobah had his left leg in a cast.

Good to see that we gave a clearly unfit Troy a run out in preparation for doing so repeatedly next season - 18 minutes, 8 touches, 0% pass completion, possession lost 5 times, 0 aerials won, 0 tackles, 0 dribbles, 0 shots, 1 clearance.

Who would have thought we would be singing the praises of Success, Gray, Navarro and Lazaar,
Success I was thinking with his " not running back and helping out attitude " during the game is a waste of space!
Gray tries hard but " control " lets him down!
Navarro, I didn't know he had it in him!
Lazaar after Luton I never wanted to see him again, however MOTH match for me today!
    I need to lie down!

Agreed. Keeping this team together MUST be the priority now. Signing new players is of tertiary import compared to tying the likes of Gozzers, Navarro, Lazaarbeam, Success and Gray to new, 5 year contracts.

    These guys have earned it!

Swansea going into the playoffs on the back of their strongest XI losing to our reserve team. How the mighty have fallen... :D

They're gonna be torn to shreds by any of the other 3

Surely the end is nigh for Perica at the club. Doesn't even get 2 mins in an end of season game.

Considering the state of that team sheet before kick off, we actually played well. Wasn't a classic but I am glad we managed to maintain our best ever home record for the whole season. Two of the most unlikely of goal scorers, but my god Success can leather a shot when he puts effort in. Nice "goal" by Gray too - not sure which part of him that went in off, but lovely cross from Sema as the assist. After last week's debacle of a show in the dead rubber at Bottleford, we actually turned up today. Not sure if anyone
out there were playing for their places for next season, but Zinc did himself no favors with a poor performance and missing a sitter. He will still come good, and maybe he needs a full season to really get up to speed.

Even Lazzar had a good game. Nice blocks and kept the tempo up. Navarro must be backup at worst. Not a terrible game but nothing like what we will need defensively in the Prem. Captain Fantastic made his return from injury and did, well, nothing of note, but give him kudos for at least getting into the game. Yet to be seen if most if not all of who played today will be here next season - we have to wait and see over the summer I guess. Decent performance, but wow are Swansea awful. You can really see how they have dropped off the promotion pace. Did not look at it despite Lowe having a great chance to put them ahead in the first half.

It was much like a pre-season game. as most would of expected. Good to see GoPro back in goal and he kept a clean sheet. Also, our home form this season has been fantastic. We may not of played well in all the games, but the results have been top notch. Xisco deserves a lot of credit for this season, as does Ivic in small parts for getting our defense sorted out. Nice to finish the season on a high note. We can look forward to the playoffs now and the final to see who will join us and Norwich in the big time.
Special shout out and thanks to everyone in the shoutbox today - great banter and entertainment as always.

During the match Mooney credited him for getting in the right place but adding that he knew nothing about the finish

I may be wrong but I think after all those 5 defeats we've responded by winning the next game? He certainly knows how to get us back up for a game! Could be massive next season in the Prem when we're losing fairly often.

Nice to end on a win but it doesn’t change much in terms of where we need to improve e.g the forward line. It’s easier for the likes of Gray and Success to come in on a no pressure game, but to be fair they took their chance.

Poor first half but better second. Swansea were really going through the motions though. There were some strange omissions though, e.g. Wilmot, Perica, given that is was a 2nd string team.

    What did Navarro do right?
What did Success do apart from that?
Gray in the right place (as so often) and didn't have to control the ball (just as well)
Lazaar - astonishing. Could he do it again?

@Bubble . Actually we failed to win one match immediately after a defeat. The infamous Coventry match which came after the QPR defeat.

Of our 9 defeats this season, we then won the next match on 8 occasions, including once of course under a different Head Coach following a loss in Ivic’s final game.

Swansea's set pieces were even worse than ours. The two that ended both halves were particularly inept.
