Just so it's clear for the rest of you the role this is the role that Success is going to play this season. At some point we will have two central midfielders out and everyone will panic that we need to go back to 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 and change the system. Xisco will stay calm and drop Sema back into the midfield three, move Pedro to the left of the front three and Isaac will lead the line and us to promotion. Heard it here first.
Sema played in midfield in pre-season didn't he? As well as a relatively ill-fated stint as a #10 at Reading when TDB and Cleverley had to go off, wasn't it?
Success will be finally fit to play after the Swansea match this season, although there maybe a delay in his comeback if Watford reach the playoffs.
Success is currently performing a useful function. he is doing a wonderful job being a boo boy without actually stepping on the pitch. That notwithstanding, I've decided that he should never play again. He's too old and can't possibly be better than any of the top class strikers that we have now. Our top 4 are young, fast, fit, and are all consummate team players.
Indeed. Immediately following the Swansea game, or our exit from the playoffs, there will be a few new photos released of a sweaty Issac in the gym with a headline about how determined he is to make an impact and repay Watford's faith. He will be "like a new signing". At the same time others on this forum will be welcoming the prospect of Penarandaradrarambada coming back with opened arms and wondering if he's the answer given he scored a great goal against some Div 2 reserves x years ago...
I see there was an U23 game yesterday and Success took no part in it although he has been playing regularly for the U23's in recent weeks. Therefore I wonder if this could mean that he will be part of the 1st team match squad for tonight?
Can confirm that the above is true. This ITK account confirmed so. You know it’s an ITK account when it hasn’t been blocked by Watford FC. https://mobile.twitter.com/King_Of_Watford/status/1367131024950505478
Christ can you imagine if he was starting and banged in the winner? There'd be a baby boom across Herts.
In my head he’s become the perfect striker for us, fits in perfectly in the formation and is going to both create and score goals galore. How long until that bubble bursts?
He'll get on the pitch before Zinckernagel. Then proceed to fall over twice with minimal contact, trip over his own feet once and then post a video on Instagram of him dancing in the changing rooms after. Great to have you back Isaac!
Only on the pitch for a few minutes but thought he looked a lot leaner than last time we saw him and played intelligently. I remember a time when we were in a similar position holding a lead and he came on, possibly against Manchester United, and he did a showboating no-look pass that went straight to their player and set up a counter attack. I think he can offer more than Perica and have a feeling that he will have a contribution to make to the end of the season.
Needs some of the old WD40 but I hope that rustiness drops off where he had two very presentable chances. The concern is the lack of work off the ball which everyone else is putting in. We cannot afford passengers at this stage. While Pedro runs around like a whippet eating up the grass like a thoroughbred on the Downs Success shuffles into his half like an old man. I know he said he is aware he needs to do better but saying and doing are two completely different things. This is the last chance saloon for him but after yesterday don't let the doors hit you on your way out.
Was naturally disappointed that Sarr and Zinckernagel were missing yesterday, but I at least thought Success *could* be a threat, OK he was rusty, but that doesn't excuse the lack of effort. Don't think he'll have many more chances to start out on the right, Hungbo is a young lad, but he looks a lot more lively and a lot more up for it than, he should be our main backup to Sema on the left
If / when we're promoted we need to keep JP, throw the rest of our 9s away, and start again. Deeney, Gray, Success, Perica... none of them are good enough.
Probably too early to give him a start in hindsight. Good link up for the first goal but pretty dreadful apart from that. His touch and passing can be attributed to rustiness I guess but his workrate was well below the standards expected. For a big guy he was absolutely bullied and looked like he wasn't up for it really which was disappointing. Hopefully a few more appearances from the bench to get up to speed and he can contribute a bit more during the run in. But let's face it, if we get promoted the club will look to move him.
And tbf JP has been very good this season, but not overly prolific in the Championship, if we go up, we'd need to sack the others off, but also bring in someone new because I'm not sure we'd be able to rely on JP so soon
Hungbo certainly can fly. I did not like the look Gray gave or muttered something when Hungbo had the shot. It was a presentable chance and if Joseph had caught it right a probable goal.
No, and I’m sure that’s the reason he passed to Gray later in when he could have gone through on his own.
I'm going to break a habit of a lifetime and give him another chance. It is impossible to dislike the big lunk.
